(QBĐT) - This morning, February 27, the Department of Culture and Sports held a meeting to prepare for the organization of the 5th Quang Binh Discovery Marathon in 2025. Attending were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities.
The Quang Binh Discovery Marathon is organized annually in March by the Department of Culture and Sports in collaboration with Race Jungle Joint Stock Company. This year’s tournament takes place on March 9 and is expected to attract more than 1,300 athletes, including nearly 20 foreign athletes from 12 countries and territories.
The running route stretches through famous landscapes of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, along the Son River, Road 20 Quyet Thang and Suoi Mooc area, providing a unique experience for athletes.
The new point of this year's race is that in addition to the 6km, 10km and 42km distances, there will be a 25km distance instead of the 21km distance as in previous races. In addition, the race route has also been adjusted to bring a new and more attractive experience to the athletes. In particular, at the 25km and 42km distances, the finish line will be located at the Chay River-Dark Cave tourist site, instead of the Tram Me River wharf as in previous races.
At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches, and localities gave their opinions and suggestions to organize the race successfully and effectively, such as: Focusing on medical work, ensuring food hygiene and safety; security and order before, during and after the race, traffic diversion during the race; promoting the race to attract tourists and people to participate in cheering; stimulating tourism, reducing prices for athletes participating in the race, etc.
Quang Binh Discovery Marathon 2025 is a meaningful activity to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025) and the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025).
Through the race, the aim is to create a healthy and attractive playground, promote the movement of training and sports competitions in the province, and at the same time promote and advertise to domestic and international friends about Quang Binh tourism in general and the values of biodiversity, natural landscapes as well as tourism products in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in particular.
