Many localities in Quang Binh were deeply flooded due to the impact of storm Tra Mi.

A representative of the Quang Binh Province Tourism Promotion Center said that cave exploration tours, forest exploration tours, and water activities near rivers and streams in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park area have stopped operating since today. Heavy rains after storm Tra Mi caused widespread flooding in the province, partially cutting off and damaging some roads, affecting travel and tourism activities.

In addition to the National Park, experiential and discovery tourism activities in Quang Ninh and Le Thuy districts have also stopped receiving guests to ensure safety and focus on flood prevention.

"Tourist attractions will reopen when the weather is stable and traffic is convenient," said a representative of the Promotion Center.

Many tourists have canceled their travel services in Quang Binh since October 26 after hearing about the storm and flood. The owner of Phong Nha Coco Riverside homestay said that his facility and neighboring accommodations still have foreign guests and they are supported with food and safety during the flood. For guests who had booked tours in advance, the homestay proactively postponed the date.

The road through Cam Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, was flooded nearly one meter deep on the morning of October 29.

Some travel agencies said they have stopped all tourism activities since October 27 when floods were forecast after the storm.

Quang Binh has been hit by heavy rain for three consecutive days. The Kien Giang River in Le Thuy has exceeded the third warning level by more than a meter. As of October 29, the entire province recorded 32,000 flooded households, of which nearly 20,000 were in Le Thuy district and 12,000 in Quang Ninh, more than 9,000 households had to be evacuated on the spot. The government advised people to limit going out.

This is the second major flood in the past four years in Quang Binh, after the flood in October 2020 when the entire plain area of Quang Ninh and Le Thuy districts was flooded 2-4 meters deep for more than 10 days, killing 25 people and causing damage of VND3,500 billion.
