Quang Binh: Technical opening of North-South expressway project, Bung-Van Ninh section

On April 19, the Ministry of Construction coordinated with Quang Binh province to organize the technical opening ceremony of the North-South Expressway Eastern component project, Bung - Van Ninh section. This is one of five key projects in the province to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The Bung – Van Ninh expressway section was technically opened to traffic 6 months ahead of schedule; the main route is expected to be put into operation from April 28 and the entire project will be completed before June 30, 2025.

The North-South Expressway component project, Bung - Van Ninh section, has a length of 48.8 km and started construction in January 2023. The starting point is in Cu Nam commune, Bo Trach district, the ending point is in Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province.

The route is designed according to the standards of a class A highway, with a design speed of 100 km/h; the design phase has a speed of 80 km/h. The project has a total investment of 9,361 billion VND, with Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Construction) as the investor. The project is constructed by a consortium of 6 contractors.

The project passes through Bo Trach, Quang Ninh districts and Dong Hoi city, with 4 interchanges, 31 bridges, 38 underpasses, 319 culverts of all kinds; the total excavation volume reaches 8 million m³, the filling volume is about 4.5 million m³.

The early completion and technical opening of the project is of special importance in connecting inter-regional traffic, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of Quang Binh province in particular, the North Central region and the whole country in general in the new era of development.

Currently, two component projects of the North-South Eastern Expressway Project, phase 2021-2025, namely the Vung Ang - Bung section (55.3 km long) and the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section (65.5 km long), of which more than 33 km pass through Quang Binh province, are under accelerated construction to be ready for traffic next month.
