With the exhibition Love is Everything , Quang Dai said he explores the complexity and beauty of love and wants to inspire viewers through his works. At the same time, through the exhibition, he hopes that viewers can feel the saying "I feel loved!" when answering the question "Are you happy, healthy and satisfied with this life?".
According to Quang Dai, painting is also a way for him to listen and talk to himself.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors will experience a variety of activities with Quang Dai, including scents, illustrations, films, interiors and healing music . These include heart-shaped pillows arranged in a maze inspired by the Co Loa Citadel - a historical site built in the 3rd century BC. These pillows symbolize the softness and vulnerability of the heart. In contrast, the maze reflects the confusion and uncertainty of love.
The money from selling the paintings will be donated to Operation Smile Vietnam to help bring smiles and love to Vietnamese children.
The exhibition Love is Everything also features a hotel room that Quang Dai transformed into an installation. Each painting will be a response to his own experience with love, helping viewers interact with art, explore different aspects and reflect on their own answers in this private space.
“I think my works don’t need to be understood, but can help viewers find empathy,” Quang Dai shared. Through Love is Everything , he wants to bring a journey for all the senses and encourage viewers to reflect on their own experiences with love.
For this 9X author, if he used to travel a lot (he was a famous travel blogger) to see the world , now is the time for him to bring his worldview and emotions out through colors and shapes.
The exhibition Love is Everything takes place at two special locations in the Renaissance Saigon Hotel, including the Atrium Lounge (which just closed on June 11) and Room 511 (which lasts until June 20). Visitors are free to visit without any charge. The author said that all proceeds from the sale of the paintings (if purchased) will be donated to the Operation Smile Vietnam fund to help bring more smiles and love to Vietnamese children.
Previously, Quang Dai’s non-profit art therapy exhibition How Are You These Days? has taken place 13 times a year in Vietnam and Thailand. He is also the first Vietnamese artist to have a solo exhibition at MOCA Bangkok (Museum of Contemporary Art Bangkok) and to be featured on Nowness Asia (a global platform to introduce and share interesting projects related to Asian art and culture).
Quang Dai first became known as a model - from the program Vietnam's Next Top Model 2013. He then became famous as a travel blogger and founder of Thinker & Dreamer. Since the Covid-19 outbreak, Quang Dai said he found joy and inspiration in painting.
