Quang Tri: Beach tourism attracts visitors during holidays

The long holiday season and favorable weather have made the beaches in Quang Tri province an ideal destination for locals and tourists, accounting for more than 86% of the total number of tourists in the province. At Cua Viet beach, Gio Linh district, the peak season has about 5,000 to 8,000 people. The average room occupancy rate is more than 96%.

Fresh seafood is the top choice of tourists at coastal restaurants.

Mr. Tran Dinh Cam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Viet town, Gio Linh district, said that the locality has more than 40 shops specializing in serving tourists at Cua Viet 1 beach. The locality has been proactive in preparations such as redecorating shops, stockpiling seafood, etc. to ensure serving the needs of tourists when they come here for sightseeing and holidays; thoroughly instructing beach service businesses to strictly follow the rules and regulations on environmental sanitation, food hygiene and safety, publicly post prices, and strictly prohibit price gouging. Organize on-site rescue forces.

Infrastructure and accommodation at Quang Tri beaches are increasingly complete and modern.

Recently, within the framework of the tourism infrastructure development project to support comprehensive growth in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, phase 2 funded by ADB with a total investment of more than 258 billion VND, the construction items of 3 community beaches including Trung Giang, Gio Hai and Cua Viet 2 have been invested in building infrastructure, lighting systems, observation... to ensure adequate conditions for operation and exploitation of marine tourism potential in the coming time.

Many meaningful and attractive programs were organized by Quang Tri province during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

During the 5-day holiday, the number of tourists visiting "red addresses" such as the Vinh Moc Tunnels historical site and the Vinh Linh Tunnel Village System, the Hien Luong-Ben Hai River National Special Relic, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic, the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, and Road 9 increased by 2 to 3 times compared to previous years. In particular, at the peak on April 30 and May 1, each of these historical sites welcomed more than 1,000 visitors, most of whom were from other provinces.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province Ho Van Hoan said that after the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the department will continue to strengthen inspection and state management of tourism, promptly correcting shortcomings in accommodation and travel business activities. At the same time, it will prepare facilities, environmental sanitation, food hygiene and safety to serve the peak summer tourism season in 2025.
