On March 11, the Governor of Saint Petersburg - the second largest city in the Russian Federation, Mr. Aleksandr Beglov, signed a decree to name " Ho Chi Minh " for a square in the north of the city.
The City Landmarks Commission approved the decision on December 12, 2024. Today, Governor Alexander Beglov signed the decision.
According to the decree, the anonymous square at Enlightenment Avenue, house number 15, Vyborg district will from now on be named Ho Chi Minh Square, after the great leader of the Vietnamese revolution, and also the name of the sister city of Saint Petersburg.
The square is located next to Ho Chi Minh Street, which has been named this since 1978. The square is also next to the Ho Chi Minh Monument, which was inaugurated in 2023 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho's arrival in Russia.
Thus, from now on in Saint Petersburg there is a complex named after the first President of Vietnam including Ho Chi Minh Street, Ho Chi Minh Square, and Ho Chi Minh Monument.
The Northern capital Saint Petersburg is a sister city to Ho Chi Minh City - the city named after Uncle Ho.
