On the morning of December 4, in the capital Vientiane, Laos, right after the official welcoming ceremony held solemnly at the Lao National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue held talks with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane expressed his pleasure to welcome National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to attend the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Summit and visit Laos; highly appreciated the significance of this working trip and sent congratulations on the success of the 6th Session of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam, which just ended last week.

The Chairman of the Lao National Assembly respectfully sent his warm regards to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh .

At the talks, in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust, the two sides informed each other about the situation in each country, about the cooperative relationship between the two countries in recent times, and shared some results of the 6th Session of the 9th Lao National Assembly and the 15th Vietnamese National Assembly.

National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane warmly welcomed Vietnam's great and comprehensive achievements in the context of complicated developments in the world and region, but it has still developed its economy, maintained political and social stability, improved people's lives, and increasingly affirmed its role and position.

Informing that the Lao National Assembly has just successfully held its 6th session, approving a number of plans on economic recovery and development and resolving a number of social issues, the Lao National Assembly Chairman happily said that Laos has gradually resolved economic difficulties and inflation has been controlled.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure to return to visit the Lao People's Democratic Republic and sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane and the leaders of the Lao National Assembly for giving the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly a warm, respectful and fraternal welcome.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectfully conveyed the congratulations of the Vietnamese leaders and people to the Lao leaders and people on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2023); respectfully conveyed the greetings and wishes of good health from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to the Lao leaders.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the brotherly country of Laos on its important achievements in socio-economic development; and also congratulated the success of the 6th Session of the 9th Lao National Assembly.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the careful preparation of the host country in organizing the first Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Summit from December 5-6 and other sideline activities; he said that the Conference is of great significance, marking the first time in history that Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia have had all the mechanisms for meetings between the highest-ranking leaders on all three channels of the Party, National Assembly and Government.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the topics, contents and common documents of the CLV Summit, which was hosted by Laos for the first time; highly appreciated Laos' role as Chair and said that this is also good experience for Vietnam in organizing the next CLV Summit in Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the administration of the Government, the support and supervision of the National Assembly, and the efforts of the people and businesses, the brotherly country of Laos will achieve even greater new achievements, successfully implement measures to open up and restore the economy, successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan; at the same time, he continued to emphasize that Vietnam always gives the highest priority to the great traditional relationship between the two countries, always standing side by side and strongly and comprehensively supporting the cause of protecting, building, innovating and developing Laos.

The two National Assembly Chairmen expressed their joy and appreciation for the positive results in the cooperation between the two countries in recent times, especially between the two National Assemblies.

The two sides continue to maintain regular high-level visits, contacts and cooperation mechanisms on all channels, including many exchanges and cooperation activities between the legislative bodies of the two countries; closely coordinate to create a favorable legal corridor for the two governments to implement the agreements reached; strengthen coordination in monitoring the implementation of bilateral cooperation agreements; and promote the implementation of key projects between the two countries.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that the two National Assemblies need to build institutions and laws to jointly create breakthroughs for bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The two leaders expressed their delight at the opening of a direct flight route from Ho Chi Minh City to Vientiane, with four flights per week expected from early 2024.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two National Assemblies through exchanging and sharing legislative experience, building and perfecting institutions and legal systems; coordinating to effectively monitor the implementation of signed high-level agreements, well preparing the content for important bilateral activities between the two countries' senior leaders; strengthening solidarity, close coordination, and mutual support at regional and international forums, especially at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF)...

On the same morning, in the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly laid wreaths at the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers of Laos.
