Since July 11, when the authorities began to organize new traffic flows on National Highway 51 (QL51), vehicles have generally been moving in the correct lanes according to regulations. Traffic on the route has been stable, with no congestion at key intersections.

Most truck and container truck drivers expressed strong support for the new lane separation plan, which is safer because there is a hard median strip between motorbikes and cars at intersections.
However, recently, the authorities have put up signs prohibiting motorbikes from turning left at intersections, and below that there is a sign instructing motorbikes that want to turn left to turn right at the intersection, then turn around and go straight. This prohibition sign makes many people traveling by motorbike very confused every time they need to turn left at intersections.

SGGP reporters spoke with representatives of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police and learned that green lights allow left and right turns in sync. Therefore, at intersections, if container trucks and heavy trucks turn right and motorbikes turn left, it will create conflicts, motorbikes can easily fall into blind spots and collide with cars. Therefore, placing signs prohibiting motorbikes from turning left at intersections on Highway 51 and adding signs indicating right turns, U-turns and going straight are to ensure safety and avoid collisions for motorbikes.
"Although it takes time and requires waiting for an extra light to go straight, it ensures safety for motorbikes and avoids conflicts with tractor-trailers and container trucks turning right, especially at intersections leading to industrial parks and seaports," said a representative of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police.
