An Giang Talent Support Fund: “15 years of turning dreams into reality”

This morning (May 4, 2025), An Giang Talent Support Fund solemnly celebrated its 15th anniversary. Over the past time, the fund has become a solid support and companion for thousands of outstanding students, university students, and individuals in all areas of social life, helping many talents in the province shine and make positive contributions to their homeland and country.

Formation

The An Giang Talent Support Fund was established in 2010, founded by Mr. Nguyen Huu Khanh (former Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee). In addition to founding the fund, he is also one of the founders of An Giang University and has made important contributions to the socio -economic development of An Giang.

The school was started in 1998-1999, and officially opened its first academic year in 2000. The idea of ​​establishing a scholarship fund to support students had been nurtured since the previous years.

Later, during a business trip to the area, on the An Hoa ferry crossing the Hau River, he accidentally heard the confession of a father who took his child to take the university entrance exam but hoped that his child would fail because if he passed, he would not have money to go to school. That simple confession urged him to soon establish the Talent Support Fund to help those in difficult circumstances, who study well...

After 15 years of establishment and development, the An Giang Talent Support Fund has affirmed its role, position and importance in the developmentof education in the province, contributing to realizing the three strategic breakthroughs set forth by the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, including developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources; gradually linking training with the rational use of human resources.

“The fund’s goal is to discover, support and reward outstanding individuals in the fields of socio-economics, national defense and security. After 15 years of operation, the fund has gradually affirmed its role as a “human investment fund” rather than simply a charity or education promotion fund,” said Nguyen Huu Khanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the An Giang Talent Support Fund.

In 15 years of operation, the fund has rewarded, supported and empowered 2,150 students and outstanding individuals, contributing to the training of dozens of PhDs, hundreds of masters, doctors, engineers, teachers, writers, officers, workers, farmers, etc.

“With clear principles and purposes, the fund quickly received strong support from the community and businesses inside and outside the province from the beginning. Initially, the fund received support of 4.1 billion VND from 40 organizations and individuals. The contributed capital by March 2025 was 14.5 billion VND. In 15 years, the fund has spent 12 billion VND in rewards and sponsorships, and now the remaining capital is over 16.5 billion VND” - Mr. Le Van Khanh (Executive Director of An Giang Talent Support Fund) shared.

15 years is not a long journey but it is enough to prove that the fund does not follow a "trend" or "just to have it", but is a strategic investment model "in people".

“The most valuable thing here is that many university graduates, although they do not have a stable income, are still happy and enthusiastic, returning to contribute to build the fund; so far, 55 beneficiaries have returned to contribute 153.5 million VND,” Mr. Khanh shared.

The success of the fund in recent times is a testament to the consensus and cooperation of the whole society in caring for and investing in high-quality human resources, a key factor for the sustainable development of the province.

Therefore, to successfully implement the strategic breakthroughs set forth by the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the province needs to maintain and further promote the role of the An Giang Talent Support Fund, effectively connecting the government, businesses and the community, so that each An Giang talent can be nurtured, respected and promoted appropriately, contributing to the common development of An Giang and the country.
