Fishermen hit the jackpot at the beginning of the year, with anchovy fish fetching 1 million VND/kg

In coastal communes of Hoang Hoa, Hau Loc, Quang Xuong districts, Sam Son city... ( Thanh Hoa ), fishermen started going to sea on the 2nd and 3rd days of Tet. When the ships returned, anchovies were the most sought-after item. The selling price was 3 or 4 times higher than usual, but customers still competed to buy them.

Mr. Vu Nhu Ca (Quang Cu ward) said that the first trip of the year not only brings high economic benefits , but also wishes for a year of favorable weather and bountiful harvest.

“This year, I started going out to sea on the second day of Tet. One trip caught many types of shrimp and fish. The selling price was higher than usual. Customers were competing to buy shrimp and anchovies but there was nothing to sell,” Mr. Ca shared.

According to Mr. Ca, the reason why this item costs a million VND/kg but many people still buy it is because during Tet, people get tired of eating a lot of meat. They want to buy fish and shrimp to eat. The dish of silver fish can be eaten in hot pot or cooked in soup, which is very refreshing.

“Sweet potato fish is not easy to catch. On my first trip out to sea, I only caught about 7kg. The selling price on the afternoon of the second day of Tet was 1 million VND, but customers fought over it,” said Mr. Ca.

Fisherman Nguyen Van Quy started going to sea on the third day of Tet. He and his wife went fishing, departing at 4am and returning to shore at around 9am the same day. The couple's catch was about 20kg of various types of fish.

With the current selling price of shrimp, fish... ranging from 500 - 1,000,000 VND/kg, the couple can earn tens of millions of VND per trip out to sea.
