Former Liverpool player Jamie Redknapp rates De Bruyne higher than Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
"Kevin De Bruyne is one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League, along with Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, David Silva and Yaya Toure. For me, he is at the top," Redknapp, a midfielder who played for Liverpool from 1991 to 2002, told Sky Sports on April 25.
Redknapp explained that De Bruyne always does extraordinary things for a midfielder. In addition to his ability to create and completely eliminate the opponent's defense, the Man City player can also score from unexpected situations, such as the flying header that opened the scoring in Man City's 4-0 win over Brighton on the evening of April 25. "I admire him every time I watch him play," Redknapp added.

Playing professionally since 2008, De Bruyne has won one Champions League, five Premier Leagues, five League Cups and two FA Cups. Frank Lampard, considered the best midfielder in the Premier League from 2005-2014, has won more than one Europa League, but fewer than two Premier Leagues.
Redknapp sees Phil Foden, another Man City player, as De Bruyne's successor. Foden is only 23, but has 51 goals and 25 assists in 160 Premier League games, including a brace against Brighton on 25 April. The Englishman has also won a Champions League and five Premier League titles like De Bruyne.
"There's no doubt Foden is playing so well because he's learned great lessons from De Bruyne," added Redknapp.
De Bruyne and Foden could win their sixth Premier League title this season. Man City are second with 76 points from 33 games, one point behind Arsenal but with a game in hand. If they win all five of their remaining games against Nottingham, Wolves, Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham, the Etihad team will make it a record four consecutive titles.
