Need to expand voluntary social insurance coverage

According to statistics from the Quang Ngai Provincial Social Insurance, by the end of September 2025, Quang Ngai had nearly 41,000 people participating in voluntary social insurance, accounting for 4.3% of the workforce. This number is still too low compared to the workforce working in the informal sector.

In recent times, the provincial social insurance sector has made efforts to implement many solutions to increase the rate of voluntary social insurance participants. In particular, it focuses on propaganda and guidance for people and households with potential to register to participate. Special attention is paid to informal workers, individual business households, small traders and households without health insurance cards. The goal is to ensure that all people have access to, understand and proactively participate in the social security policies of the Party and the State.

It is known that from July 1, 2025, the Government has issued regulations on increasing the level of support for voluntary social insurance contributions from the State budget from 20-50% depending on the participants and expanding some benefits such as maternity allowance for participants.
