Child star Lam Thanh My feels pressured when filming a love scene for the first time

Lam Thanh My said that the role of Nhai in 'The Contract to Sell Strawberry' is her most unique role in the horror film genre. This is also the first time the actress has played a role with a romantic scene with a male co-star in a film.

Lam Thanh My 'became a wife' for the first time

On the evening of August 23, the introduction event of the movie Khe uoc ban dau took place in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting attention when recreating a wedding procession with a strong ancient color. The main cast of the movie including Lam Thanh My, Huu Vi, Lanh Thanh, Tra My, Tuyet Anh... appeared together in ancient wedding costumes.

At the premiere, actress Lam Thanh My shared about her role in The Bride Contract . In the film, the actress plays Nhai, a 17-year-old bride caught up in a family contract containing a curse passed down through generations. Nhai's husband is Vu The Dinh (Huu Vi) - the son of the Vu family. This family has 3 daughters-in-law, but the family says only Nhai "can change her fate, she must give birth to a son to carry on the great cause".

The actress said: "This is one of the rare times I act with a male co-star in a husband and wife relationship. Previously, I usually played gentler, more romantic roles. When reading the script, I was a bit hesitant because the film would have romantic scenes with a male co-star. I expressed my concerns to the production crew, and everyone explained and ensured that the scene was as safe as possible. Thanks to that, I was confident in accepting the role and portraying the character."

Lam Thanh My admitted that she also felt a bit pressured about the audience's reception of the role of Nhai. Because she understood that the audience was used to Lam Thanh My's image associated with innocent and cute roles. "I don't dare to expect that through the role of Nhai, the audience will see that I have matured, completely different from the image of a child actress before. For the audience to see my transformation is not a matter of a day or two, but needs time and going through each role. However, I hope that through the role of Nhai, the audience will see a new, more impressive image from me," she expressed.

Actress shares that the role of Jasmine in The Bride Contract is different from most of the characters she has played.

The once famous child star admitted that on set, she always felt a certain distance with Huu Vi. The actress thought that maybe because of the generation gap (13 years old) the two did not talk in harmony. However, this coincidentally coincided with the relationship between the two characters Nhai and Dinh in the film. Because Nhai always felt lonely and lost in the big house, trying to connect but was not responded by her husband.

This is also the second time Lam Thanh My has collaborated with director Le Van Kiet, after the movie Bong De (2020). The actress said that meeting the director again after many years brought a sense of pride. In this project, the actress worked more effectively because she was familiar with "Uncle Kiet's" way of working. However, the role of Nhai was still a big challenge. Lam Thanh My admitted that the character had many new experiences compared to her real age. "At the age of 20, I never thought about getting married, having children, or how to build a happy family. Nhai had to go through life experiences, so I had to be more mature psychologically to fully transform. I tried to put a lot of effort into this role," she said.

Talking about the process of working with Lam Thanh My, Huu Vi shared: "The first time playing a female co-star with an age gap between uncle and niece was also very interesting. In real life, we are really distant, I don't know if My felt this was necessary for the character. Even though I tried very hard to interact with each other, there was still a feeling of distance between the two of us."

Tra My returns to the screen after 7 years

After 7 years of absence, Tra My wants to bring the audience a more mature version.

In the project "The Contract to Sell Bride ", the participation of "child actress" Nguyen Phuong Tra My after 7 years of absence from the screen, received attention. Before that, she appeared in the movie " The Third Wife" , released to audiences in 2019. Although the movie created a buzz at many international film festivals, when shown in Vietnam, it created mixed public opinion because of the sensitive scenes played by actress Tra My when she was only 13 years old.

Since then, Tra My has not participated in any other art projects in Vietnam. Currently, the actress has turned 21 years old, her beauty is increasingly mature and sharp. At the showcase, Tra My shared that she is very careful in choosing scripts, and Khe uoc ban dau became a special choice because the young actress loved the original work and recognized the meticulousness of the production team. Besides, Tra My also hopes to bring to the audience a more mature version compared to the "child actor" image in the past.

The Bride Contract is scheduled to premiere on September 12.

To fully transform into the character, Tra My said she put a lot of effort into it, including studying and playing the real guitar for the role. The actress shared that this careful preparation helped her feel more confident in her return to the cinema after a long absence.
