Unity and sharing
According to the plan, the great solidarity festival in residential areas, commemorating the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025) was held from November 5 to 17 in the highland communes of Tra My. However, due to the heavy damage caused by floods in late October and early November, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city issued an official dispatch adjusting the organization's direction with the theme "Solidarity, sharing, and supporting people affected by natural disasters".
That theme has become a message of humanity, calling on the entire city to support compatriots in disaster-stricken areas with concrete actions. This year's festival was organized economically and practically, associated with support, relief, and flood recovery work. In areas with heavy damage, activities mainly focused on visiting, encouraging, helping, cleaning the environment, and restoring production.

In Tra Tan commune, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Ha, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said that residential areas only organized the ceremony, not the festival, in accordance with the city's direction. According to statistics, in just the first 5 days of November, Tra Tan received 27 relief groups, with a total value of more than 1.46 billion VND including cash, rice, drinking water, blankets, clothes, candy, etc. Many units, businesses, volunteer groups, etc. directly came to Tra Tan, giving gifts and helping people overcome difficulties.
In the same spirit, in Tra My commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang My, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said that the locality only organized the ceremony, reviewed traditions, honored exemplary households and launched a campaign to share with people affected by natural disasters. As the center of the old Bac Tra My district, Tra My has also become a connecting point of affection when many local individuals and organizations proactively mobilized to support communes in remote and more severely affected areas, especially Tra Giap. There are at least 5 volunteer groups organized by Tra My people, donating more than 200 million VND to provide relief to people in Tra Giap and Tra Tan.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, a resident of Mau Ca village, shared: "Realizing that the people of Tra Giap suffered too much damage and the road was blocked, making it impossible to reach, we mobilized support resources, waiting for the road to be cleared to bring essential food, working tools such as hoes, shovels, machetes, etc. to help people restore production."
These acts of kindness not only help people stabilize in the short term but also add to the community's confidence and strength, helping the locality gradually rebuild its life after the natural disaster.
Building trust
In the mountainous commune of Tra Giap, continuous rain and floods from mid-October to early November 2025 caused particularly serious damage. The entire commune has 270 households in high-risk landslide areas, 149 households with 618 people had to be safely evacuated. Heavy rains caused tens of thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil to slide, many roads were cut off, and power and signal were lost for many days.
Mr. Hoang Thanh Long, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Council, said: "The damage this time is too heavy, unprecedented. Immediately after the route is opened, the sharing and relief from superiors and society are very necessary, but in the long term, Tra Giap really needs fundamental support from the city and the central government."

According to statistics, the entire Tra Giap commune has 56 affected houses. Of these, 6 houses collapsed, 26 houses were damaged, 24 houses were flooded. Total damage to traffic, irrigation, electricity, water, schools... is estimated at more than 54.8 billion VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said that this year's great solidarity festival has become a day of practical action, mobilizing relief and helping people overcome damage caused by floods. As of November 11, the commune has received 28 groups, individuals and organizations for relief, with a total value of about 1 billion VND. In village 3, people organized themselves to rebuild collapsed houses, clean up, restore fields, and open temporary roads for trade. In village 1, village elder Tran Ngoc Lien and village chief Ho Van Dieu mobilized people to give up land to open roads to escape isolation, berm fields, restore land, and maintain the spirit of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves".
This year's Great Unity Day is not only a commemorative day, but also a vivid demonstration of the spirit of "Unity - Sharing - Overcoming Natural Disasters," fostering faith and aspiration for a strong, loyal, and resilient community in difficult times. The simple festivals in the flood-hit areas of Tra My, Tra Giap, Tra Tan... have gone beyond the meaning of festivals, becoming a symbol of humanity and the strength of great unity. In times of trouble, people become more attached to each other, together rebuilding houses, opening roads, and sowing faith in tomorrow.
