On November 22, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy announced the Prime Minister's decision to merge Hue Medical College (under the People's Committee of Hue City) into Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy ( Ministry of Education and Training ).
Accordingly, the school will continue to train college-level medical staff according to social needs, especially serving the Hue City health system, until there are new regulations from the Government, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Health and related legal documents.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy - Rector of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that after the merger, the school will implement 5 key projects. These include developing according to the school-institute model, linking training with scientific research, medical examination and treatment, technology transfer and community service; perfecting the organizational structure, developing resources and building a team of high-quality staff, lecturers and employees; improving the quality of training through updating the program, innovating teaching methods, focusing on learners and linking theory with practice.
The school also promotes scientific research, innovation, digital transformation, international cooperation; builds a dynamic and integrated academic environment; develops financial resources and invests in modern facilities and equipment. Mr. Huy affirmed that the school will continue to maintain and improve the quality of training, scientific research, medical examination and treatment, and contribute to the community.
According to Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, the merger is a major policy to implement the Central resolutions, contributing to the development of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy according to the national school-institute model and towards international standards; at the same time promoting the goal of developing Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital to meet the standards of advanced hospitals in the region.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh said that the merger also creates conditions for effective implementation of the Central and Provincial Party Committee's resolutions on educational innovation, improving people's health and building a specialized medical center in Southeast Asia in Hue.
