Reduce administrative pressure for preschool teachers

The Ministry of Education and Training affirms that digitalization in preschool education, from AI applications to support educational planning to developing a shared digital science repository, all aim at the common goal of reducing administrative burdens for teachers, making teachers happy and children happy.

"It is the happiness of teachers that creates the happiness of children", that is the consistent message in the speech of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh De, Director of the Department of Preschool Education , Ministry of Education and Training, at the Workshop on Application of information technology, digital transformation in management and work of nurturing, caring for and educating children in preschools; Proposing models of nurturing, caring for and educating children on digital platforms and digital technology, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, which took place this morning (November 26) at Saigon University.

Preschool teachers spend a lot of time making reports.

Speaking at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh De said that the country currently has more than 50,000 educational establishments, including more than 30,000 preschool establishments with about 5 million preschool children and more than 400,000 teachers. Of which, there are more than 15,200 preschools and over 17,000 independent schools and childcare groups.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh De affirmed that digital technology is bringing about substantial changes to preschool education. From applying AI (artificial intelligence) to support educational planning, using QR codes to monitor health and nutrition to developing a shared digital science repository..., all are aimed at a common goal of reducing the administrative and reporting burden for preschool teachers, thereby helping preschool teachers to be happier. Happy teachers will help children to be happy, and schools to be happy.

In his speech, Mr. De cited the fact that the reporting and summarizing of the current school year is still a major "bottleneck" in preschool education facilities, preschool education departments of the Departments of Education and Training... Due to the unstandardized and unsynchronized original data, units from the department level to the agency level often take weeks, even months just to complete a summary report. This has taken away precious time that teachers and managers should have spent on caring for and playing with children.

The workshop was held in Ho Chi Minh City, connecting online with connecting points in many provinces and cities.

Assess the current state of infrastructure and share practical experiences

Mr. De said that the Ministry of Education and Training has taken drastic steps such as issuing a set of indicators to assess digital transformation of preschool education institutions (October 2024) and a Data Strategy for the education and training sector until 2030.

At the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thanh De raised 3 key issues for representatives of the Department of Education and Training of localities to discuss: Frankly assess the current status of infrastructure and application of information technology; Share models and practical experiences that have been successfully deployed in localities; Connect with technology units to find practical solutions, avoiding formalities and advertising.

Mr. De hopes that this workshop will open up new directions, helping to build a "correct and sufficient" database. Because only when freed from the pressure of manual bookkeeping, can preschool teachers wholeheartedly devote themselves to creating a happy environment for children.
