The school also invited the student and his family to the school to discuss and clarify the incident in the spirit of supporting the student to recognize right from wrong, correct mistakes and mature.
At the same time, the school connected with two veterans, Mr. Le Van Bang and Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - who were directly present at the ceremony that day, so that the students could apologize to them.
"The two doctors listened to the student's apology with sympathy and understanding, and believed that the student's actions were impulsive and due to youthful impetuosity. They did not hold any grudges, and at the same time hoped that the community would create conditions for the student to correct his mistakes, continue studying, and develop his future," said a school representative.

"My friends and I would like to send our deepest and most sincere apologies to the veterans for our inappropriate actions during a tense and out-of-control situation...
We take full responsibility for our loud voices, inappropriate behavior, and failure to give way in time to you - the honorable people who have dedicated themselves to the country," the HUTECH student wrote.
The male student continued: "We hope that you and everyone will be generous in forgiving us, so that we have the opportunity to correct our mistakes and grow from this incident. We do not apologize because we are criticized or apologize to let things go, but from a sincere and heartfelt place, we apologize to everyone.
Although I know that apologizing does not mean that I am no longer responsible, I will also reflect and change. And consider this the biggest lesson that I will always regret in my life because I no longer have the chance to make amends with the veterans.
HQ also said that after the incident of "disrespecting two veterans", when the situation stabilized, the group of male students proactively invited some other veterans to sit with them.
"This is an action out of respect and a desire to immediately correct the mistake," the Korean male student wrote.
On the same morning, Van Lang University also announced that it had decided to discipline student NNG (course 29, Chinese language major) for his inappropriate behavior towards veterans during the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification that took place on the evening of April 29.
