After the 10th grade Literature exam in Hanoi: 'I came to see who was the runner-up, I was the valedictorian'

This morning, May 24, candidates took the Literature exam for the 10th grade entrance exam at the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities - Hanoi National University (2025-2026 school year). As one of the first candidates to step out, Dinh Thao commented: "I found the exam not too difficult. Personally, I did relatively well on the test." The female candidate also said that in the exam, the discussion section has quite open content to help candidates be creative and express their personal opinions. This will be the part that helps determine the score.

At 9:50 a.m., parents lined up, anxiously waiting for their students to leave the school gate after the first exam.

Tien Thinh (Giang Vo Secondary School) confidently walked, waving to parents and friends. "I came here to see who the salutatorian is, but I'm definitely the valedictorian," the male student laughed. His humorous statement made the parents nearby laugh and breathe a sigh of relief.

A male student was given a hand by his mother right after leaving the house. The mother and son walked and talked about today's exam.

The Literature exam was assessed by most of the candidates as being within their ability. The first exam went smoothly, helping them feel very comfortable.

Bao Linh and her mother came from Bac Giang to Hanoi to take the entrance exam to grade 10 at the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities. The student hugged her mother tightly after the exam and told her the good news that she had done very well. "I expected to get 8.5 in Literature," Linh happily said.

Many candidates talked with their friends while walking. The leaders of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities said that this year, 2,037 candidates registered to take the entrance exam to the school. The competition ratio for the Literature major is about 1/17; the History major is 1/14 and the Geography major is 1/13.

This afternoon, May 24, candidates will take the general Math and English exams. On the morning of May 25, candidates will take the specialized subjects exam within 150 minutes.
