Free surgery for children with facial deformities

To implement the maxillofacial surgery program for children in 2023, currently, all levels and sectors in the province are stepping up propaganda work to the people so that they can grasp the information and take their children for screening.

This humane program is organized by the Vietnam Children's Fund and Operation Smile Vietnam (OSV) in coordination with sectors and localities in the province.

The screening program is expected to take place on the morning of June 30 at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. The cases that will be screened and operated on are children under 16 years old with disabilities and deformities such as: cleft lip (for children 6 months old and weighing 8kg or more); cleft palate (for children 18 months old and weighing 10kg or more); sequelae of congenital malformations such as lip scars, cleft palate, nasal deformities, etc.

OSV will support surgical costs for designated cases. In addition, the children will also be supported with food and travel costs at the rate of 350,000 VND/patient who must stay in the hospital for surgery; 100,000 VND/patient who comes for screening examination within 20km from the examination site and 150,000 VND/patient who is more than 20km from the examination site.
