Sinner was in top form, defeating his Russian opponent with an overwhelming score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-4 on Philippe Chatrier Court. The world number one displayed sharp movement and smart tactics, completely neutralizing Rublev's attacking efforts and hitting 25 winners to reach the quarter-finals of the clay Grand Slam for the third time.

"I'm really happy. Things can go wrong very quickly, especially in an important match like this. I'm happy to finish the match in just three sets. The night matches in Paris are always great, thank you all for coming," Sinner shared after the match.
Although Rublev started with a determined spirit, winning two break-points in the opening game, Sinner quickly showed his mettle. He successfully cleared both opportunities with solid baseline shots, taking the 30-minute set and setting up a dominating position for the rest of the match.
The win also extended Sinner's winning streak at Grand Slams to 18, equalling the record of Andre Agassi, Boris Becker and Mats Wilander, making it the ninth longest winning streak in the Open Era. The US Open and Australian Open champion is aiming for a third straight Grand Slam title and his first at Roland Garros.

With his characteristic attacking style, Rublev had a tough time against Sinner. The Italian nullified all of his opponent's attacks, maintaining the game from the back of the court and often using short shots to hit winners from both wings.
Sinner was exceptionally effective, especially on returning Rublev's second serve. A decisive forehand return gave him a break and the second set. Statistically, Sinner lost only 8 of his 42 first-serve points in the fourth-round match.
Speaking about the change in return position, Sinner said: "We adjusted before this tournament. I felt like I was out of rhythm, so this new position helps me have a better rhythm, trying to hit the ball deeper, especially with the first serve. With the second serve, I try to change from behind and come closer to the net. Today, it worked very well."

Sinner, who has not dropped a set en route to the quarterfinals, joins Frances Tiafoe and Novak Djokovic as the only men to have achieved that feat. He also improved his overall winning record at Roland Garros to 20-5. Last year, Sinner reached the semifinals but lost to Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set match.
Sinner, who begins his 52nd consecutive week as No. 1 in the ATP rankings, will face Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals. The Kazakhstani, currently ranked No. 62 in the world, pulled off a shock upset by defeating No. 5 seed Jack Draper to become the first Kazakh man in history to reach a Grand Slam singles quarterfinal. Sinner leads Bublik 3-1 in their previous meetings.
