The Ministry of Health has assessed that COVID-19 is currently a disease circulating in Vietnam. With the high demand for communication and travel of Vietnamese people during the recent April 30 and May 1 holidays, it is possible that the number of cases in our country will increase in the coming time. However, severe cases due to variants of the COVID-19 virus may not increase.

In the face of the current COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Health has proactively strengthened supervision, closely monitored the disease situation, implemented disease prevention and control measures at medical facilities and in the community; is ready to admit, provide emergency care, and effectively treat infected cases, especially high-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with underlying diseases, the elderly, etc., to prevent deaths.

In particular, to proactively prevent and combat COVID-19, the Ministry of Health continues to recommend that people wear masks in public places, on public transport, and at medical facilities; limit gatherings in crowded places (if not necessary); wash hands regularly with clean water, soap or antiseptic solution; increase physical activity, physical training, and proper nutrition. When experiencing symptoms of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, go immediately to the nearest medical facility for timely examination, monitoring, and treatment.

The Ministry of Health also noted that people coming to and returning from countries with high numbers of COVID-19 cases need to proactively monitor their health status to prevent disease for themselves, their families and close contacts.
