Number of people vaccinated against rabies in Hai Duong increased

According to statistics from the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control, in the first 4 months of 2025, the whole province had 687 people bitten by dogs and cats who had to be vaccinated against rabies and anti-rabies serum, an increase of 175 cases compared to the same period last year. Of these, 586 people were vaccinated within 10 days of being bitten by dogs and cats. Of the dogs and cats that bit people, 107 were sick or roaming around, with unknown owners. Since the beginning of the year, the province has not recorded any deaths due to rabies. Besides the cases of proactive vaccination, there are still some people who are subjective and do not care about rabies prevention.

In 2024, Hai Duong had 1,955 cases requiring preventive treatment due to dog and cat bites. Of which, there was 1 case in Chi Linh City that died after being attacked by a strange dog, bitten on the hand but subjectively did not get vaccinated.
