On the afternoon of December 19, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh province held a conference to summarize the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025. Attending the conference was Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
In 2024, Quang Ninh's agricultural sector faced a series of difficulties and challenges due to epidemics and natural disasters, especially the recent storm No. 3, which caused a sharp decline in the results of agricultural, forestry and fishery production targets. However, with flexible and drastic management and consensus of officials and civil servants, the entire sector has basically completed the adjusted growth scenario target.
In 2024, the growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fishery in Quang Ninh is estimated at 0.08%. In the 2021-2024 period, the GRDP growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached 3.8%/year, achieving the set target (3.2%/year). By the end of 2024, the new rural construction targets set in Resolution No. 20-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee had been completed and exceeded with 91/91 communes, reaching 100% of the communes meeting the new rural standards, 2 years ahead of the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress; 54/91 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards; 25/91 communes meeting the model new rural standards. 13/13 district-level units met the standards/completed the task of building new rural areas at 100%, achieving the target compared to the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress.
At the conference, the units focused on analyzing and clarifying the lessons learned from the difficulties that the agricultural sector has overcome and clarified the solutions that need to be focused on and implemented synchronously and drastically to quickly restore production and improve the efficiency of agricultural economy after storm No. 3; striving for the GRDP growth rate of the whole sector to reach over 3% and continuing to effectively implement 3 national target programs associated with Resolution No. 06 dated July 15, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee right from the first days and months of 2025.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, suggested that in 2025, on the basis of closely following the resolution of the Provincial Party Committee as well as the decision to assign targets for the 2025 Socio-Economic Development Plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Quang Ninh agricultural sector needs to specify tasks and comprehensively implement targets by sector, field, and management area. In particular, focusing on the two major sectors of forestry and fisheries of the sector to make a breakthrough in implementation. The irrigation sector needs to promote the upgrading of dike works to ensure proactive response to climate change. Along with that, continue to innovate in management, improve the quality of OCOP products of the province, determined to complete the target of the economic growth rate of the whole sector reaching, exceeding 3%.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to do a good job of ideological work, thoroughly informing all cadres, party members and civil servants of the industry about the implementation of apparatus consolidation, thereby creating a new atmosphere in performing tasks in 2025.
