The Department of Agriculture and Environment proposes activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Thailand and the Philippines.

On November 21, 2025, the Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed to the Provincial People's Committee activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Thailand and the Philippines, expected to be implemented in 2026 in the field of sea and fisheries. Thailand (Comprehensive Strategic Partnership) and the Philippines (Strategic Partner) both have strengths in the marine economy, sustainable fisheries and prevention of IUU fishing. Cooperation between Vietnam and the two countries has recorded many advances in recent times, especially in sharing experiences in fisheries management, monitoring fishing vessel journeys, enforcing laws at sea and operating the Joint Committee on Seas and Oceans mechanism. Based on the review, the Department proposed 03 key groups of activities: Focus on cooperation in combating IUU fishing, sustainable fisheries, sharing experiences in monitoring VMS, fleet management, coordinating the handling of violating fishing vessels and discussing solutions to restore aquatic resources; Introducing sustainable marine farming models; IoT – AI application in monitoring the farming environment; sharing high-value product processing techniques and experience in developing seafood logistics chains in intra-ASEAN trade; Focusing on super-intensive shrimp farming technology, producing high-quality breeds, disease control and connecting businesses of the two countries in investment, technology and trade of shrimp products.

The proposed activities aim to enhance regional fisheries cooperation, contribute to sustainable development of the fisheries sector, improve marine management capacity and support Vietnam's efforts in preventing IUU fishing./.
