Soc Trang promotes digital signatures and digital signature certification services in 2023

STO - On the morning of September 28, at Toan Thinh Conference Center, Soc Trang Department of Information and Communications coordinated with the National Electronic Authentication Center (NEAC) - Ministry of Information and Communications to organize the Conference "Propaganda on digital signatures, digital signature authentication services in 2023". Attending the conference were Director of NEAC Center To Thi Thu Huong; Director of Soc Trang Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Huu Hanh; Deputy Director of the Department of Legal Affairs (Ministry of Information and Communications) Nguyen Minh Hang; leaders of departments, branches, provincial organizations and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Director of NEAC To Thi Thu Huong informed that in Vietnam, currently 100% of enterprises have used digital signatures mainly in services such as tax declaration, customs, social insurance... while the rate of people using digital signatures is still very modest. Specifically, by the end of August 2023, the number of active digital certificates nationwide was more than 2.8 million, an increase of nearly 18% over the same period last year. Of which, there are more than 1.8 million digital certificates of enterprises, agencies, organizations and nearly 1 million personal digital certificates.

This conference will contribute to promoting the use of digital signatures in agencies, organizations and businesses, and at the same time promote the people and the whole society to better understand the benefits and ways to use digital signatures so that they can confidently participate in the digital economy and digital society.

In Soc Trang, all civil servants in need have been granted digital signatures. Most of the leaders have been granted digital signatures. Specifically, 4,710 digital signatures have been granted, including 3,281 personal signatures, 858 organizational signatures, and 571 mobile SIM signatures (PKI). According to statistics, 4,584 people; 4,159 businesses and business households have registered to use public digital signatures.

At the conference, the Vietnam Digital Signature and Electronic Transaction Club informed delegates about digital signatures, the role and benefits of digital signatures and digital signature certification services in e-Government, digital government and digital transformation activities. Representatives of organizations providing public digital signature services discussed the application of digital signatures, solutions for developing personal digital signatures and a representative of the NEAC Center introduced the revised Law on Electronic Transactions.

At the conference, the Department of Information and Communications of Soc Trang, the Vietnam Digital Signature and Electronic Transaction Club and organizations providing public digital signature services signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide free digital signatures to people in Soc Trang province.

Soc Trang is actively transforming digitally to become a model of comprehensive digital transformation, gradually promoting growth and economic structure associated with implementing strategic breakthroughs, contributing to making the province one of the leading localities in the country in digital transformation in all three areas: digital government, digital economy, digital society. 2023 is the year of "breakthrough in digital transformation", so organizing this conference is very meaningful. Increasing the use of digital signatures in electronic transactions, determining the legality of transactions taking place in the online environment, contributes to affirming that the digital transformation in Soc Trang is taking place strongly and positively.
