According to Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh, implementing the common perception of the senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries on building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future with strategic significance in the direction of "6 more", including promoting deeper substantive cooperation, in the first 6 months of 2025, the Embassy has proactively, creatively and actively deployed economic diplomacy activities to maintain the strong momentum of economic cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Strong growth momentum
The implemented activities have facilitated and expanded trade, contributing to a total trade turnover of 113.8 billion USD, with a double-digit growth rate of 20%. Vietnam continues to be an attractive investment destination for many prestigious Chinese enterprises, with registered investment capital reaching 2.55 billion USD, being the third largest investor and leading in the number of new projects.
Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh emphasized that the remarkable point is that the investment capital is increasingly increasing in high-tech and environmentally friendly content, demonstrating high-quality development cooperation between the two countries. Strategic connection projects, especially infrastructure connection of railways, highways, and border gate infrastructure, have made positive progress. Tourism between the two countries has recovered significantly, with China continuing to be the largest market sending visitors with 2.7 million visitors, accounting for 25.6% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam.
"To achieve the above results, the Embassy has implemented many specific activities such as closely coordinating with domestic agencies to promote economic and trade cooperation to become one of the focuses of foreign affairs activities between the two countries, especially at the high level," said Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh.
Specifically, the Embassy has coordinated to carefully and effectively prepare for the activities of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his working trip to attend the 16th Annual Pioneers Meeting of the World Economic Forum and work in China in June 2025, including the Vietnam-China Business Connection Forum and meetings with many leading Chinese enterprises.
In addition, the Embassy has supported nearly 50 delegations of government leaders, ministries, branches and localities to visit China and nearly 10 delegations of Chinese delegations to visit Vietnam; regularly coordinates with domestic agencies and localities to organize conferences to promote investment, trade and business contacts. These activities strongly promote the investment environment and opportunities in Vietnam; connecting many prestigious and potential Chinese enterprises with Vietnamese enterprises.
In addition, the Embassy has coordinated with domestic agencies to promote market opening, facilitating trade development, including: promoting the opening of some products that Vietnam has strengths in to the Chinese market such as chili, passion fruit, raw bird's nest, clean bird's nest, rice bran, coordinating to remove difficulties in exporting durian to China and facilitating customs clearance of agricultural products during peak crop season; regularly updating information, giving early warnings, coordinating to support in resolving difficulties and problems of businesses; at the same time actively advising on potential products and items for export to China that can replace the US market.
The Embassy has supported domestic agencies to work with Chinese ministries and sectors to promote strategic connectivity projects, including three railway projects connecting with China.
In the context of the rapidly evolving, complex and unpredictable situation, the Embassy has actively advised, researched, forecasted, proposed solutions; developed periodic tariff bulletins and monthly economic and trade bulletins and sent them to ministries, branches, research institutes, associations and localities to update and widely share information on the local economic situation and policies, as well as opportunities for cooperation and trade with Chinese partners.

Driving new growth drivers for the future
Regarding solutions and directions to promote economic diplomacy in the last 6 months of 2025, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh said that in the last 6 months of 2025, closely following the Prime Minister's instructions on promoting economic work to contribute to renewing traditional growth drivers and promoting new growth drivers, achieving the 2025 growth target, creating momentum for double-digit growth in the next period, the Embassy will closely coordinate with domestic agencies to seriously and effectively implement the following work contents:
Firstly, strengthen strategic advisory work, grasp the local situation, and be more proactive in responding to China's policy adjustments and moves, especially regarding fruits and agricultural products.
Second, continue to concretize the common perception of senior leaders, effectively and resolutely implement the signed agreements between the two sides in many fields, focusing on agricultural trade and strategic connectivity such as promoting the continued opening of the market for some citrus fruits and medicinal herbs of Vietnam; promptly remove obstacles arising in the export of agricultural and aquatic products of Vietnam to the Chinese market; promote trade promotion of Vietnamese goods; effectively promote the incentives of the Free Trade Agreement between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China (ACFTA) version 3.0 and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP); continue to promote major projects, including the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project...; accelerate the construction of smart border gate cooperation projects, cross-border economic zones; deploy the mechanism of the Vietnam - China Railway Joint Cooperation Committee.
Third , continue to call for investment projects from Chinese enterprises with strength, reputation and technology to contribute to increasing the localization rate, forming a complete supply chain and production chain in Vietnam.
Fourth , promote science and technology diplomacy to contribute to the effective implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, green development, digital economy... These are fields in which China has strengths and Vietnam has needs.
