According to Xinhua, local police reported that the serious accident occurred on the Denpasar-Singaraja road near Gitgit village at around 4:30 a.m. on November 14. At that time, a car crashed into a tree and overturned, killing five Chinese citizens and injuring eight others.
Members of the Indonesian Red Cross, police and local residents took injured passengers to nearby hospitals.

Police said the vehicle was carrying 14 people. The driver was an Indonesian national, while all 13 passengers were Chinese nationals.
The Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar said it received a notification from the police on the morning of November 14 and immediately activated the emergency response mechanism.
The Consulate has been in close contact with the Indonesian authorities to verify casualties, establish direct contact with those involved and coordinate with local volunteer teams to provide assistance.
The Consulate said it will continue to work with relevant departments to handle further issues and make every effort to provide necessary protection and assistance.
