The accident occurred at around 11pm on March 5 in an area near Kintampo, a town in the East Bono region of central Indonesia.
The bus carrying about 52 people was travelling from the northern region to Kumasi, Ghana's second largest city, when it crashed into an oncoming truck as it entered the area.
Witnesses said 21 people died at the scene and another died in hospital. Among the dead were four women, one child and 17 men.
Surviving passengers on the bus said the truck driver tried to avoid another truck that was stopped on the road and swerved into the oncoming lane, leading to the collision.
