Nallo (65) was sent off in the loss to Palace. |
The 18-year-old was brought on by coach Arne Slot in the 67th minute to replace Alexis Mac Allister. However, just 12 minutes later, he received a straight red card for a foul on Justin Devenny. This illegal tackle resulted in Nallo being sent off and leaving the field in frustration.
Notably, this was the second time in a row that Nallo had been sent off in just his first two games for Liverpool. In his first-team debut in January in the Champions League, the youngster was also sent off just four minutes into his first-team debut in a 3-2 defeat to PSV. At the time, coach Arne Slot called the decision “a cruel moment for Nallo”.
Up to now, Nallo has only played a total of 16 minutes for Liverpool's first team but has received 2 red cards - a rare statistic in top-level football.
Nallo joined Liverpool in August 2023 after coming through the West Ham academy. He is a regular in the Under-21 team and has represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level.
Despite a difficult start to his career, Nallo is still considered a promising talent. West Ham U16 coach Carlton Cole once commented: “Nallo has a great left foot, moves gracefully, controls the ball with both feet and always maintains confidence. Nallo's potential is really huge."
