"The locality has included the content of traditional ethnic culturaleducation in extracurricular lessons at 37/37 schools in the district. At the same time, it has created conditions for people to participate in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, restoring festivals, customs and good practices of the nation. In the past 5 years, the district has spent over 15 billion VND to organize annual activities associated with tourism activities," Mr. Binh added.
Along with that, the preservation and transmission of the Mong ethnic cultural identity to generations and classes of people, especially the young generation, is directed by Mu Cang Chai district through organizing classes to teach the craft of making panpipes; brocade weaving or beeswax painting on fabric... Communes and towns regularly maintain the activities of 110 traditional art troupes during festivals, especially 20 core traditional art troupes ready to serve tourists.
The district regularly organizes competitions, performances, cultural, artistic and sports festivals during holidays and Tet holidays imbued with traditional cultural identity such as: "Spring in the Highlands" Festival; "Unification Day" activities; "Water Pouring Season" tourism activities; Festival to explore the special national relic of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields; To Day flower festival; spring welcoming activities...
The art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric by the Mong people has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
At the same time, coordinate with the People's Committee of Nghia Lo town to organize the Muong Lo Cultural - Tourism Festival, explore the special national relic of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields; participate in exchanges with Muong La district, Son La province to organize "Ham Tra flower festival". The series of festival activities are always associated with Mong flute competitions; competitions in fast rice harvesting, good plowing, beautiful embankment building; goat fighting; competition in using beeswax to create patterns on fabric; flute and scarf dancing. The district People's Committee has been recognized for the copyright of the Banh Day Pounding Festival, the Golden Season Festival; the "Flying over the scenic area" paragliding festival; Mong flute festival and To Day flower festival. In addition, the district maintains and promotes the value of 39 tangible cultural heritages and 142 intangible cultural heritages that have been listed for inventory.
Every year, the district conducts a review, evaluation and selection of key cultural values that need to be preserved and promoted to become the driving force and cultural products to promote socio-economic development in the district, especially tourism development with tourism products bearing typical brands associated with the unique cultural identity of the local Mong people.
Mr. Hang A Do in La Pan Tan commune is a typical example of the Mong people who have effectively developed the community tourism model for many years. Taking advantage of his family's stilt house, he renovated it to serve tourists.
Mr. Do shared: "Tourists who come to the family are mainly foreigners and spend the night paying from 80,000 - 250,000 VND/room, depending on the room type. The family serves food from popular to regional specialties and rents traditional Mong costumes for tourists to take souvenir photos."
In recent years, mobile information activities serving villages and hamlets have also been regularly implemented by Mu Cang Chai district. Every year, the district's Center for Communication and Culture organizes an average of 45 grassroots propaganda sessions; and coordinates 20 performances/year.
Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Mong ethnic group not only contributes to preserving the unique cultural identity but is also one of the important driving forces for socio-economic development. Developing tourism services based on the foundation of ethnic culture not only brings economic benefits but also helps protect and promote traditional cultural values, creating conditions for the Mong ethnic community in Mu Cang Chai district to develop sustainably.
Mu Cang Chai is currently maintaining the operation of traditional craft models such as: brocade weaving cooperative with 30 households trading in brocade products; Mong flute making tourism cooperative and Hammock rice tourism; 4 forging models in the communes of Che Cu Nha, La Pan Tan, Pung Luong; 5 flute and musical instrument making establishments in the communes of Mo De, Pung Luong, De Xu Phinh; 3 rattan and bamboo weaving models in the communes of Lao Chai, Nam Khat, Cao Pha. |
