Health experts say recent research has shown that you should exercise in the morning if you want to lose weight, while exercising in the afternoon will be more beneficial if you have diabetes, according to Daily Mail .

"The timing of your workout plays a key role in fine-tuning the results of your workout," says Professor Juleen Zierath, an integrative physiologist at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.
Accordingly, many of our physiological activities — from body temperature to heart rate and the genes that control fat metabolism — operate according to the body's circadian rhythm.
Explaining why morning exercise is more effective for weight loss, Professor Zierath said that our bodies have thousands of genes that produce enzymes that help convert stored fat in cells into energy for use during exercise. Recent studies have shown that these genes seem to be most active in the morning.
"Morning is the best time to lose weight," says Professor Zierath.
As for afternoon workouts, Zierath says they can help keep your blood sugar levels more stable, which is especially helpful for people with type 2 diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition.
“We studied people with type 2 diabetes and found that doing high-intensity interval training in the afternoon resulted in optimal improvements in blood sugar control compared to exercising in the morning or late evening,” explains Professor Zierath.
Another study of more than 92,000 people, published in the journal Nature Communications in February this year, found that people who exercised between 11am and 5pm had a lower risk of dying from heart disease than those who exercised earlier or later. The reason is that there is a link between stable blood sugar levels and heart health.
However, Professor Zierath also emphasized that although exercising in the morning or afternoon may bring the most optimal results, you can still comfortably exercise at any time of the day. Because exercising at any time is better than not exercising at all.
