Container truck driver deliberately swerved on the highway… to force company to fire him

On the morning of August 6, the Criminal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police announced that it had arrested Nguyen The Ninh (born in 1989, from Nghe An) - the driver who drove a tractor-trailer swerving and weaving on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, endangering traffic participants and seriously affecting social order and safety.

Previously, on August 4, a video clip was circulated on social networks reflecting the content of a tractor-trailer truck continuously weaving, swerving, and squeezing other vehicles on the highway through Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Immediately after receiving the information, Binh Trung Ward Police, Traffic Police Department, Criminal Police Department coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Control Center to quickly verify; identified the driver as Nguyen The Ninh, an employee of TC Vietnam Transport Joint Stock Company.

The investigation agency served the prosecution decisions on Nguyen The Ninh.

At the investigation agency, Nguyen The Ninh confessed that he intentionally committed this dangerous act to force the company to fire him because he was upset with the company's policies. Ninh drove the vehicle in a zigzag manner on the highway with the purpose of attracting attention and ending his labor contract.

According to the investigation, at the time of the incident, there were at least 4 other cars traveling in the same direction behind Ninh’s car. Driving at high speed and weaving on the highway poses a serious risk of accidents, obstructing traffic and causing confusion for road users.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Criminal Police Department has issued an emergency detention order and temporarily detained Nguyen The Ninh to investigate the act of "Disturbing public order".
