DTO - On the afternoon of April 17, at the People's Committee of Tam Nong district, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province solemnly held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision recognizing Tam Nong district as meeting new rural standards in 2024 and receiving the Second-class Labor Medal.
Attending the announcement ceremony were comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of Department V05, Ministry of Public Security; comrade Ngo Truong Son - Chief of the Central Coordination Office of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction.
On the side of Dong Thap province, there were comrade Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province; comrade Tran Tri Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of Tam Nong district through the periods and a large number of local officials and people.
Authorized by the Prime Minister, Comrade Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province (left cover) presented the Decision recognizing Tam Nong district as meeting new rural standards in 2024.
Launching the New Rural Construction Program in 2011 with a low starting point, but with the strong direction from the Party Committee and government, along with the consensus and active contributions of the people, up to now, the district has completed 100% of the criteria according to the National Criteria for New Rural Districts.
By the end of 2023, the district will have 8/11 communes meeting the NTM standards and 3 communes meeting the advanced NTM standards. In the period of 2011 - 2024, the district mobilized a total of over 3,300 billion VND to implement the program. In particular, people voluntarily contributed over 336 billion VND, accounting for over 10% of the total capital, clearly demonstrating the spirit of "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people enjoy" in building NTM.

Economic and social infrastructure has been invested synchronously. 100% of the district's roads have been upgraded and met technical standards; the bridge and culvert system has been solidified, connecting production areas with residential areas. The material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved.
By 2024, the average income in rural areas will reach 66.9 million VND/person/year, an increase of 48.9 million VND compared to 2011. The multidimensional poverty rate will decrease to 1.94%, a sharp decrease compared to 16.82% in 2011. The education, health, culture and social sectors will continue to receive comprehensive investment.
In recent times, Tam Nong district has effectively established and maintained 13 farmer associations with 499 members. The OCOP program continues to develop strongly, with 35 products achieving 3 stars and 2 products achieving 4 stars. Start-up and business activities in the area are increasingly vibrant with many creative projects based on local potential and advantages.
Comrade Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee to individuals with outstanding achievements in building new rural districts.
In particular, Tam Nong is a pioneer in many modern agricultural production models such as: "Circular agricultural production, low emissions", "Ecological rice production combined with conservation and development of Sarus Cranes". The district also actively implements the Project "Sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" demonstrating its commitment to accompany the direction of green and sustainable agricultural development of the province and the country.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, comrade Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province affirmed that the achievements of Tam Nong district in building new rural areas are the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity, the continuous efforts and determination to overcome difficulties of the entire political system and the high consensus of the people. This is not only the pride of Tam Nong but also a vivid proof of the success of the National Target Program on building new rural areas in the province.
Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong said that there is still much work to be done on the road ahead. With its unique geographical location, rich land potential, resources and ecosystem, Tam Nong district is one of the localities playing a key role in implementing the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region. Therefore, the district needs to proactively develop a specific action plan, closely coordinate with departments and branches, and maximize the role of people in transforming production thinking, towards modern, circular and environmentally friendly agriculture.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong emphasized that Tam Nong is also a pioneer in implementing the Project on Conservation and Development of Red-crowned Cranes. This is a task that has both ecological significance and strategic value for tourism and sustainable development. Therefore, the district needs to have a drastic and synchronous participation, promoting the role of the community in protecting the natural environment, especially the core area of Tram Chim National Park, which is closely associated with the habitat of Red-crowned Cranes. At the same time, the district needs to continue to pay special attention to sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security.
To create a breakthrough in the new development stage, comrade Le Quoc Phong suggested that Tam Nong district should promote the application of digital transformation, apply science and technology to production and management, considering this as one of the important pillars to improve economic efficiency, create new values and increase income for people. Along with that, continue to arrange the organization to be streamlined and effective, meet the requirements of state management innovation and better serve the goal of comprehensive and sustainable socio-economic development...
