Speaking at the forum, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized that " we are entering a new stage of development, a stage of comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Korea, and also a new era of science and technology with the strong rise of artificial intelligence with new social needs. In that context, listening to opinions from domestic and foreign experts and managers to innovate training methods is extremely necessary, especially for Korean Studies in Vietnam ".

Korean studies have traditionally focused on limited fields such as humanities, social sciences, and Korean language. Recently, Korean studies have expanded in scope due to the increase in interdisciplinary research and expansion into STEM, media, and science and technology. Korean language education and Korean studies in Vietnam have made significant progress over the past 30 years. However, Vietnam is also facing challenges such as resource fragmentation, balanced development of Korean language and Korean studies, and the need for collaborative initiatives. In addition, Laos, a neighboring country of Vietnam, is also seeking measures to meet the growing demand for Korean studies.

Strengthening partnerships between Government, business and schools

Vietnam is one of the fastest growing countries in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and is making progress in innovation and technological development in many different areas, supported by government encouragement and private sector innovation. In this context, the importance of nurturing human resources is extremely important, especially in the digital era and rapidly changing technology, human resources are one of the indispensable values for future growth.

By strengthening the higher education partnership between Korea and Vietnam, we can effectively leverage Korea’s economic development experience and strengths in essential areas of the Fourth Industrial Revolution such as digital, biotechnology, and climate change to strengthen high-quality education capacity, while contributing to the training of human resources for sustainable socio-economic development infrastructure through government-business-academic cooperation.

The Korean Studies Forum in Hanoi 2025 has achieved important results, contributing to orienting the development of Korean Studies in Vietnam in the new period.

The stakeholders expressed their hope that this would be a starting step to build a cooperation network between researchers, training institutions, businesses and government agencies, creating a premise for the sustainable development of Korean studies in Vietnam.
