Attending and chairing at the An Giang province bridge point were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council Le Van Nung; Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc and members of the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
According to the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions - the standing agency of the Central Steering Committee, as of May 7, 2025, there are 15 localities nationwide that no longer have temporary or dilapidated houses. Specifically, 6 localities have no longer had temporary or dilapidated houses since the program began, including: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. 4 localities have completed the elimination of temporary or dilapidated houses for all 3 target groups (people with revolutionary contributions, households under 2 national target programs and households under programs launched by the State), including: Bac Ninh, Can Tho, Khanh Hoa and Tay Ninh. In addition, 5 localities have announced the completion of the elimination of temporary or dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households under the program, including: Thai Nguyen, Kien Giang, Binh Phuoc, Vinh Long and Tra Vinh.
Since the 3rd meeting of the Steering Committee (March 10, 2025), the whole country has eliminated nearly 87,000 temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching an average of about 26 houses/locality/day. Up to now, the total number of temporary and dilapidated houses supported for elimination nationwide is nearly 209,000. Of these, about 111,000 houses have been started and inaugurated, while 98,000 houses are under construction. The rate of construction and completion is currently about 77% of the total number of temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be treated for all 3 groups of subjects.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the tasks from now until October 31, 2025 are very heavy (there are still about 61,800 temporary and dilapidated houses) because they involve many ministries, agencies, and localities, and the scope of implementation is wide, while the remaining time is not much (about 170 days). Therefore, it is required that all levels, sectors, and localities make greater efforts, greater determination, and more drastic, effective, and focused actions. The Prime Minister suggested continuing to promote the spirit of "special times, special spirit, special efforts to create special results", "more speed and boldness", "determined to fight, determined to win", and upholding responsibility to the Party, State, and People to do so.
