Authorities inspect food products at supermarkets and markets in the area. |
No fake MSG or seasoning powder has been detected in the area.
When reading news about the recent busts of counterfeit production and trade, many people are worried and confused about their health if they accidentally bought and used fake food before.
We went around the markets and supermarkets to find out if the above fake foods are available in the Hue market. At the Bach Hoa Xanh food stall (Kim Long Street, next to Nguyen Hoang Bridge), the scale is small compared to other supermarkets and shopping centers in the city, but there is no shortage of goods, from vegetables and fruits to food, daily consumer goods serving the people. Curious and paying close attention on the shelves, we did not see any powdered milk, seasoning powder, MSG with fake designs and brands of the establishments that have just been discovered in the provinces and cities... Next, when we visited the Coopmart Hue supermarket, after carefully checking the stalls, there were no fake products mentioned above, we asked an employee here and got the answer: Goods entering the supermarket are all checked, post-checked from packaging, labels, barcodes, origin...
At Ben Ngu market, when talking with Ms. Le Thi Na, a general merchandise vendor, we learned that when she heard that hundreds of tons of fake MSG and seasoning powder from Phu Tho had been smuggled into the market, she was worried and quickly checked all the food shipments that had just been imported. Luckily, her facility did not import the above mentioned foods. "Not only my products, but also the facilities at Ben Ngu market have not sold fake brands of MSG and seasoning powder such as Boat Brand, Fami Gold, Famimoto..." - Ms. Na said. We also went around to verify Ms. Na's words, and it was true that we had not discovered the fake foods as mentioned above.
Control and prevent counterfeit goods
Doctor Ton That Do, Head of the Department of Resuscitation - Emergency at Phu Xuan District Hospital, Hue City, shared: Just the fake MSG and MSG that were just discovered in Phu Tho is a rather painful problem, endangering human life. Because MSG is a familiar spice in many families, collective kitchens... If you use fake MSG and MSG of unknown origin, it can cause symptoms such as headaches, nausea, allergies or long-term effects on the liver and kidneys. To avoid buying fake products, consumers should choose to buy reputable, branded products...
Many opinions say that, to prevent counterfeit goods, including fake Western medicine, functional foods, seasoning powder, and cooking oil that are infiltrating the market, authorities need to regularly strengthen inspection, supervision, and strictly handle violations related to the production, sale, distribution, and advertising of counterfeit and poor quality goods.
In recent days, in Hue City, departments, branches, and functional units have increased testing and tracing the origin of milk, functional foods, seasoning powder, and MSG products at establishments, commercial centers, and supermarkets to detect and destroy counterfeit production lines, protecting the rights and health of consumers. In this spirit of action, I recall the incident in June 2015, when Huong Thuy Town Police broke up a fake MSG and seasoning powder production line at a facility located in Thuy Phuong Ward (Huong Thuy Town) owned by Nguyen Tat Hay (65 years old) while on the way to sell...
Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Recently, in the face of the situation of products such as powdered milk and fake food of unknown origin occurring in many places across the country, the unit has directed the Market Management Department to proactively strengthen market surveillance; coordinate with relevant departments and units to review and verify information. If establishments and individuals are found trading in goods and food on channels, especially cases of buying and selling fake, counterfeit milk, Western medicine, and food of unknown origin, the unit will propose to handle the right person, the right crime and publicly announce the names and boycott.
The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade also recommends that, to avoid buying fake or poor quality goods, consumers should buy goods at reputable places; choose reputable brands with clear origins; goods with stamps, labels, expiry dates, and barcodes are even better... This is not only to protect the health and property of each individual, but also to contribute to cleaning up the market and protecting legitimate businesses.
