According to Vietnam Social Security, from July 1, the basic salary will be adjusted from 1.49 to 1.8 million VND/month. Therefore, the health insurance premium for students will also be adjusted.

Specifically, students in the group supported by the State budget, not in the group participating in family health insurance, have a monthly health insurance contribution equal to 4.5% of the basic salary (of which the State budget supports 30%, students pay 70% themselves).

Thus, the health insurance premium for students is: 4.5% x 1.8 million VND x 12 months = 972,000 VND/year. Of which, the actual amount paid by students is 680,400 VND/year (because the state budget has supported 30% of the premium).

Student health insurance contribution levels according to the following time frames:

In addition, from July 1, health insurance participants will be paid 100% of medical examination and treatment costs in cases where the cost for one medical examination and treatment is lower than 15% of the basic salary.

This means that before July 1, if a patient's medical examination and treatment costs less than VND223,500 according to regulations, the Health Insurance Fund will pay 100% of the cost. From July 1, if the cost of a medical examination and treatment is less than VND270,000, the patient will be exempted from the fee. This cost level has increased by VND46,500 compared to the old level.

People who have participated in health insurance for 5 consecutive years or more and have the amount of co-payment for medical examination and treatment costs in the year greater than 6 months of basic salary (equivalent to 10.8 million VND), except for cases of self-examination and treatment at the wrong medical facility, will also be covered 100% by health insurance. The co-payment amount to be covered 100% by health insurance is currently 8.94 million VND, increasing to 10.8 million VND from July 1.
