The meeting point for foreign capital flows.
During the recent series of events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, numerous construction projects were launched and inaugurated, demonstrating Hue's attractiveness in attracting investment, especially foreign direct investment (FDI). Economic zones and industrial parks have become focal points for international investors.
At the Gilimex Industrial Park, Phase 1 of the EON Industry Vietnam helmet manufacturing plant has officially commenced operations. Just 17 months after groundbreaking, a modern factory spanning over 4 hectares has been established, employing over 800 workers. The first shipments from Hue have been exported to international markets, marking the presence of a global corporation in the ancient capital. The company plans to expand to phases 2 and 3, increasing the total workforce to over 1,600 people and diversifying its product range to include motorcycle helmets and sports protective equipment. Representatives from EON Industry Vietnam stated that the company chose Hue because of the strong support from the local government, the readiness of its infrastructure, and its human resources. This is not only a project for EON Industry Vietnam but also affirms the belief that Hue is a promising investment destination in the region.
Another example is the expansion of the Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery in the Phu Bai Industrial Park. With nearly $90 million in investment, Carlsberg increased the brewery's capacity by 50%, making it the Group's largest beer production facility in Asia. Beyond increasing scale, Carlsberg also introduced green production standards: utilizing renewable energy, conserving water and energy, and treating 100% of wastewater according to international standards.
In the service and commercial sector, Aeon Mall Hue has made a major breakthrough by providing a modern shopping experience, contributing to changing consumer habits, improving people's lives, and promoting the development of the retail and tourism industries. This shows that FDI is not only flowing into heavy industry, but also diversifying the local economic structure.
In particular, the Kim Long Motor Hue Production and Assembly Complex project is expected to create a breakthrough. Upon completion, the project could transform Hue into one of the largest automotive industrial centers in the country, driving the development of satellite businesses and supporting industries. Kim Long Motor will not only create jobs but also lay the foundation for the automotive and mechanical engineering industry in Central Vietnam.

Leverage advantages to retain FDI flows.
Amidst fierce nationwide competition to attract FDI, Hue has demonstrated its unique advantages: a strategic location in Central Vietnam, connection to the East-West economic corridor, and a balance between cultural heritage and industrial development orientation. By the end of August, the total implemented investment capital in the city was estimated at over VND 24,075 billion, equivalent to 63.7% of the plan, an increase of 12.1% compared to the same period last year. The city granted licenses for 35 new projects and adjusted 18 projects with a total registered capital of VND 30,015 billion, including 9 FDI projects with a registered capital of USD 32 million.
These figures are directly reflected in GRDP growth. The industrial and construction sector experienced strong growth, far exceeding the same period last year. Foreign direct investment (FDI) has become a crucial driving force, not only in terms of capital but also in technology, markets, and modern management methods. Local businesses are gradually participating in supply chains, logistics services, construction, and raw materials. Workers have more stable jobs and higher incomes. An industrial and service ecosystem is forming, enhancing the competitiveness and production value of Hue.
At the recent August regular press conference of the Hue City People's Committee, in response to questions from the press about growth drivers and budget revenue in the remaining months of the year, the Chief of the City People's Committee Office, Tran Huu Thuy Giang, particularly emphasized the role of FDI projects, especially the Kim Long Motor Hue Production and Assembly Complex and the Kanglongda Hue Factory. These are considered projects that will create momentum for Hue's economic development in the coming period.
However, to retain FDI capital, Hue cannot be complacent. The biggest challenges currently facing Hue are infrastructure and human resources. Chan May Port and Phu Bai International Airport need further improvement to meet the volume of goods and passengers. Economic and industrial zones such as Chan May - Lang Co, Phu Bai, Phong Dien, etc., must be invested in comprehensively, and social infrastructure needs to develop in parallel to meet the needs of workers and experts.
According to the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong, to continue attracting FDI, the Hue government will always accompany and provide maximum support to investors from the initial environmental research phase to the product commercialization stage. At the same time, it will continue to reform administrative procedures to be quick, transparent, and efficient; the government is always ready to engage in direct dialogue to resolve difficulties.
