Hue City leaders visit beer production line at Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery

Rendezvous of foreign capital

In the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2nd), many works and projects were started and inaugurated, demonstrating Hue's attractiveness in attracting investment, especially FDI capital. Economic zones and industrial parks have become the focus of international investors.

At Gilimex Industrial Park, EON Industry Vietnam Helmet Factory Phase 1 has officially come into operation. After only 17 months since the groundbreaking, a modern factory of more than 4 hectares has been established, attracting over 800 workers. The first shipments from Hue have been exported to international markets, marking the presence of a global corporation in the ancient capital. This enterprise plans to expand to Phase 2 and 3, increasing the total number of employees to more than 1,600 people, diversifying products to motorcycle helmets and sports protective equipment. EON Industry Vietnam representative said that the Enterprise chose Hue because of the strong support of the government, the readiness of infrastructure and human resources. This is not only a project of EON Industry Vietnam but also affirms the belief that Hue is a promising investment destination in the region.

Another example is the expansion project of Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery in Phu Bai Industrial Park. With a capital of nearly 90 million USD, Carlsberg has increased the capacity of the brewery by 50%, making it the largest beer production facility in Asia of the Group. Not only increasing the scale, Carlsberg also brings green production standards: Using renewable energy, saving water, saving energy and treating 100% of wastewater according to international standards.

In the service and trade sector, Aeon Mall Hue has created a major turning point by bringing a modern shopping experience, contributing to changing consumer habits, improving spiritual life, promoting the development of the retail and tourism industries. This shows that FDI not only flows into heavy industry, but also diversifies the local economic structure.

In particular, the Kim Long Motor Hue Production and Assembly Complex Project is expected to create a breakthrough. When fully completed, the project can turn Hue into one of the largest automobile industrial centers in the country, leading to the development of satellite enterprises and supporting industries. Kim Long Motor not only creates jobs but also lays the foundation for the mechanical and automobile industry in the Central region.

Take advantage to retain FDI capital flow

In the context of fierce competition nationwide to attract FDI, Hue has shown its own advantages: Strategic location in the Central region, connecting the East-West economic corridor, and the balance between cultural heritage and industrial development orientation. By the end of August, the total investment capital implemented in the area was estimated at more than VND 24,075 billion, equal to 63.7% of the plan, up 12.1% over the same period. The city has newly granted 35 projects, adjusted 18 projects with a total registered capital of VND 30,015 billion, including 9 FDI projects, with a registered capital of 32 million USD.

These figures directly reflect GRDP growth. The industrial and construction sector has grown strongly, far exceeding the same period last year. FDI has become an important driving force not only in terms of capital but also in terms of technology, market and modern management methods. Local enterprises have gradually joined the supply chain, logistics services, construction, raw materials and supplies. Workers have more stable jobs and higher incomes. An industrial and service ecosystem is forming, increasing the competitiveness and production value of Hue.

At the recent regular August press conference of the City People's Committee, in response to questions from the press about growth drivers and budget revenue in the last months of the year, Chief of Office of the City People's Committee Tran Huu Thuy Giang especially emphasized the role of FDI projects, especially the Kim Long Motor Hue Production and Assembly Complex and Kanglongda Hue Factory. These are considered projects that will create momentum for Hue's economic development in the coming time.

However, to retain FDI capital, Hue cannot be complacent. The biggest challenge for Hue at present is infrastructure and human resources. Chan May Port and Phu Bai International Airport need to continue to be improved to meet the flow of goods and passengers. Economic and industrial zones such as Chan May - Lang Co, Phu Bai, Phong Dien... must be invested synchronously, social infrastructure also needs to be developed in parallel to meet the needs of workers and experts.

According to Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong, to continue attracting FDI capital, Hue authorities will always accompany and provide maximum support to investors from the stage of studying the environment to the stage of commercializing products. At the same time, they will continue to reform administrative procedures to be quick, transparent, and effective; the authorities are always ready to have direct dialogue to remove difficulties.
