Increase trade promotion to expand market

Trade promotion (XTTM) is one of the solutions that the province is very interested in. The goal is to expand the domestic and export markets. In particular, the province focuses on supporting enterprises to apply technology to XTTM to promote products and brands.

Over the past 5 years, the Vietnamese and global economies have experienced many fluctuations, greatly affecting growth. In Dong Nai, total retail sales of goods, services and exports have remained stable and have had high growth rates of 10-13%/year. The province's GRDP has increased higher than the national average.

Firmly entering the global playground

Currently, most businesses clearly recognize the importance of applying modern science and technology in production and business. From there, they gradually participate in digital transformation to increase productivity, product and service quality, and meet the increasing demands of partners, as well as domestic and foreign consumers.

Digital transformation in e-commerce helps enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments, etc. reach customers and markets faster. Therefore, enterprises, cooperatives and production establishments can promptly grasp consumer needs to plan short-term and long-term production and bring suitable products to the market, reducing time and costs, and increasing competitiveness.

In fact, 8-10 years ago, digital transformation in various fields was mentioned by the Government, ministries, and branches and encouraged enterprises and cooperatives to participate. However, in the past 5 years, enterprises have really paid attention and invested capital in information technology for strong digital transformation. Especially, in 2021, when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in many countries and territories, business owners and customers had difficulty traveling to exchange directly and sign orders, so the application of information technology and digital transformation became even more important. At that time, most enterprises prioritized investing in digital transformation, connecting trade with partners, and exchanging online. Many orders were still signed without enterprises and partners having to meet in person. This contributed to limiting disruptions in the global supply chain.

Director of Hien Nam Ceramic Production Company Limited (in Bien Hoa City) Hoang Ngoc Hien said that in the past 4-5 years, the company has applied information technology to promote products to domestic and foreign customers. Customers can transfer product information without having to go directly to the company. Through the information sent by customers, the company will advise and design products to suit their requirements.

Many businesses said that digital transformation helps businesses reduce a lot of time and costs for traveling to promote products; while customers can easily access and learn about products through the websites of businesses and cooperatives; then, they can choose and order products that suit their needs.

The Government has identified the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion as a breakthrough solution in expanding the domestic and export markets. Therefore, on November 22, 2021, the Government issued Decision No. 1968/QD-TTg approving the Project on Promoting the Application of Information Technology and Digital Transformation in Trade Promotion Activities in 2021-2030. The goal is to build and develop a digital trade promotion ecosystem, focusing on enterprises, and the benefits brought to enterprises in accessing the market are the measure of the success of applying information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion.

Immediately after that, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Official Dispatch No. 8425/BCT-XTTM to implement the Government's Decision 1968. In March 2022, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang signed and issued Plan No. 64/KH-UBND to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities in the period of 2021-2030 in Dong Nai province.

According to Nguyen Van Linh, Deputy Director in charge of Dong Nai Trade Promotion Center, in the second quarter of 2025, the unit will focus on disseminating regulations, mechanisms, and policies on the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities. Organize conferences to connect trade between cooperatives and cooperatives in districts and cities with Dau Giay Agricultural and Food Wholesale Market. Support businesses to participate in trade programs on the 9th of every month in Ho Chi Minh City...

Domestic consumption and export goods increased

The application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities has helped many enterprises and cooperatives in Dong Nai expand their domestic and export markets. Currently, Dong Nai has trade relations with about 180 countries and territories.

According to the Dong Nai Trade Promotion Center (under the Department of Industry and Trade), in 2025, the province will continue to support enterprises, cooperatives, and business households to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities. Through domestic and foreign trade promotion programs, the province's enterprises have grasped the needs and tastes of each product and each specific market. Thereby, there are reasonable production and business plans, contributing to boosting export turnover, increasing revenue through conferences, seminars, domestic trade connections; the program "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; fairs and exhibitions in and outside the province...

Deputy Director in charge of Dong Nai Trade Promotion Center Nguyen Van Linh said that since the beginning of the year, trade promotion work has brought practical results to enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments in the province; opening up opportunities to introduce products, seek cooperation opportunities, exchange goods and services, cooperate in investment and business, transfer technology, and directly approach consumers. Thanks to that, enterprises and cooperatives grasp the needs and tastes of customers in general and customers in each region in particular, have production and business strategies to develop the market, increase the competitiveness of products and goods in the domestic and international markets.

According to the Dong Nai Statistics Office, in the first 4 months of 2025, Dong Nai's export turnover reached nearly 8.38 billion USD, up 14.6% over the same period last year. The export growth rate in the first months of the year was much higher than the province's 2025 plan. The province's total retail sales of goods and services achieved a growth rate of more than 10% over the same period in 2024.

At the Conference on Assigning Socio-Economic Targets to Departments, Branches, and Localities in 2025, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc emphasized that one of the solutions for Dong Nai to achieve 10% economic growth this year is to promote administrative reform and digital transformation.

In 2025, Dong Nai set 5 important economic targets to be completed, including: economic growth rate of 10% compared to 2024; average income per capita of 157 million VND; export turnover increased by 10%; total social development investment capital of about 134 trillion VND; total state budget revenue reached the estimate assigned by the Ministry of Finance. To achieve export targets, trade promotion plays a very important role. Applying information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion will help businesses have more opportunities to expand product consumption channels in the domestic and export markets.
