Tinh Linh today through the perspective of former veterans

Nearly 50 years after the liberation day December 25, 1974 - December 25, 2023 and 40 years of re-establishment of the district May 1, 1983 - May 1, 2023, the former Tanh Linh sub-region has now donned bright colors.

From a poor agricultural district, with almost no infrastructure to serve the people's economic and social life, the Party Committee and people of Tanh Linh district have inherited the revolutionary tradition, united to overcome difficulties and challenges, and strived to build their homeland, achieving many important achievements in all areas of economic and social life. This transformation has made those who fought in this land in the past feel surprised when they have the opportunity to return to this place.

Lighting incense sticks before the souls of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Tanh Linh land, contributing to the glorious victory to liberate Tanh Linh district on December 25, 1974 at the district martyrs' cemetery, veteran Tran Quang Nghia (born in 1955) currently living in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province cannot forget the time he fought in Tanh Linh district in the past. Mr. Nghia said: In 1974, he and his comrades went to Tanh Linh district to fight. The war here was very fierce, arduous, far from the people but close to the enemy. After winning, he and his unit returned to the northern battlefield to continue their fighting mission. Having the opportunity to return to Tanh Linh land to light incense sticks to pay tribute to his comrades who fell to regain independence for the nation and for his homeland, Mr. Nghia still feels pain for his comrades who sacrificed their lives in this land but until now have not been found to return their names. Mr. Nghia feels warm about the attention of local leaders at all levels towards the work of gratitude and the strong development in the economic - cultural - social fields of Tanh Linh district.

Memories resurfaced in veteran Bui Van Tinh, (born in 1952), residing in Da Nang city, a special forces soldier of the 200C special forces battalion, former Military Region 6, when returning to the old battlefield of Tanh Linh sub-region: To enter Tanh Linh sub-region, he and his comrades had to march for 6 months from the North to get to this place. Once there, malaria tormented them to the point of near death, but with the will of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the solidarity of his comrades in the unit, and the encouragement of his superiors, they all overcame the difficulties and challenges of illness and hardship and fought bravely, winning many resounding victories to liberate Tanh Linh.

After the emotional moments before the souls of the heroic martyrs, Mr. Tinh became excited about the transformation of the mountainous district of Tanh Linh: The change of the former war zone land is unimaginable without a guide. If before Tanh Linh sub-region had nothing, few people, wild mountains and forests, now it has become an urban area, spacious houses, welfare works, offices of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Front, and socio-political organizations of the district are built spaciously and cleanly. Roads are now paved with asphalt, concreted solidly, cars can go all the way to residential areas. There is the Ta Pao irrigation system providing abundant water for agricultural production. Wherever you go, you can see lush green rice fields; fruit orchards full of fruit; endless rubber plantations. The economic life of the people is very developed. Tanh Linh people are gentle and hospitable. Moreover, the leaders of Tanh Linh district also pay special attention to the work of “repaying gratitude” and “remembering the source of water”. And the newly built martyrs’ cemetery of the district in a very beautiful and spacious location is proof of that. It is impossible to tell all about the strong development of Tanh Linh sub-region in the past – Mr. Tinh said.

After 40 years of re-establishing the district (May 1, 1983 - May 1, 2023), Tanh Linh has now undergone remarkable changes in all areas of social life. It has gradually affirmed its position in socio-economic development - national defense and security.
