Established in July 2024, Tay Bac Garment Factory located in residential group 5, Quyet Tien ward (Lai Chau city) has contributed to creating jobs for women and developing the local socio- economy .
Stemming from the desire to increase family income and at the same time create jobs for local people, especially ethnic minority women who have free time and cannot travel far to work, Ms. Vu Thi Minh - owner of Tay Bac Garment Factory boldly rented premises, sought partners, and linked with garment companies and enterprises in Hanoi and the lowland provinces to produce costumes according to career needs and job positions. Currently, the facility has invested in production lines and equipment systems of more than 30 industrial sewing machines.
As one of the workers who have been with Tay Bac Garment Factory since its establishment, Ms. Le Thi Ha in residential group 3 (Quyet Tien ward) shared: When I was accepted to work at the garment factory, I was very happy. Because the location is near my home, and I am raising a small child. With an income of 5 million VND/month, my sisters and I in the communes and wards in the city are assured and excited to have a job and improve our lives. The work is light, suitable for health, salary is based on products, no pressure.
Tay Bac Garment Factory has been creating jobs for many local workers.
As for Ms. Di Thi Hong in Nam Loong 1 village (Quyet Thang ward), she used to do many jobs for hire, and her work was unstable. Since working at Ms. Minh's sewing workshop, she and many other workers in the area have had stable jobs. During the working process, Ms. Minh enthusiastically guided them to complete the shirt and pants products according to the correct size and design according to the customer's requirements. Compared to when she used to stay at home doing farming and housework, the money earned from sewing has helped her family to have a much easier life.
According to the workers here, thanks to the facility maintaining large orders, women have regular jobs. Some even receive orders to do at home, so they can take care of their family, manage their children's education and have an income.
Ms. Vu Thi Minh - owner of Tay Bac Garment Factory said: Currently, the garment factory has 12 regular workers, with trained workers having a basic salary of 5 million VND/person/month, not including overtime. For workers who are both studying and working, the salary is 3 million VND/person/month. In addition to the salary regime, the facility also has attractive policies for workers from far away such as: support for gas money, suitable accommodation. However, the current difficulty is that although ethnic minority women learn to embroider and sew traditional costumes from a young age, when it comes to industrial sewing, it is still slow and has not caught up with the production line operations. Therefore, the training time is long.
Currently, the garment factory has signed many large orders, which is also a premise to expand the scale of operations, attract more workers to work and feel secure to stay long-term. However, Ms. Minh still hopes to continue to receive support from agencies and units in the area for costumes and uniforms, thereby reducing transportation costs and creating more jobs for workers right in the locality.
