Training to improve the capacity of pedagogical lecturers in implementing the 2018 General Education Program

On April 10, in Hanoi, the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers coordinated with Hanoi National University of Education to organize a training program to improve the capacity to implement the 2018 General Education Program for 133 lecturers from 29 higher education institutions that train teachers.

The training program is organized to equip in-depth knowledge, update the innovations in content, methods and approaches in the 2018 General Education Program for the teaching staff of pedagogical colleges. This is one of the key activities in the roadmap for implementing the 2018 General Education Program, contributing to improving the quality of teacher training at higher education institutions.

The training content focuses on three main groups: The 2018 General Education Program and issues related to building and developing school programs and teacher training programs; digital transformation in education and application of artificial intelligence in teaching and professional development for teachers; some content to support teachers in implementing the 2018 General Education Program such as building teaching plans, innovating teaching methods, testing, evaluation, etc.

Speaking at the program, Rector of Hanoi National University of Education, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Son said: According to the planning of the network of higher education and pedagogical institutions for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, among 12 key universities and two key schools, Hanoi National University of Education is identified as one of the key schools for national pedagogical training.

In the context of increasingly high requirements for general education, requiring increasingly strict quality of teachers, without effective connection and coordination between facilities in the teacher training network, it will be very difficult to undertake the task of educational innovation and meet development needs.

Rector of Hanoi National University of Education, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Son spoke at the program.

Over the years, the school has proactively built a network of high schools for professional development, with more than 100 participating schools. This network is organized by subject groups, creating conditions for sharing experiences, providing professional support and accompanying teachers' professional development. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Son hopes that in the near future, there will be a new network, representing lecturers from teacher training institutions to cooperate and accompany Hanoi National University of Education, contributing to improving the quality of teacher training nationwide.

At the program, Professor, Doctor of Science Do Duc Thai, Faculty of Mathematics and Information Technology, Hanoi National University of Education shared theoretical and practical issues in the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program, thereby proposing a number of solutions to ensure that the teaching, testing, assessment and examination processes are on the right track, with the goal of forming and developing students' qualities and abilities, applying the knowledge acquired to solve practical problems.

Regarding the issue of innovation in teaching methods, Professor, Doctor of Science Do Duc Thai said that the majority of teachers have grasped the content of the program, the spirit of innovation in teaching methods, the application of information technology to support innovation in teaching methods and innovation in testing and evaluation. However, a large number of teachers and managers still maintain the teaching method of imparting content, focusing on equipping knowledge and skills to do exercises according to exam requirements.

Therefore, Professor, Doctor of Science Do Duc Thai proposed to develop and promulgate standardized programs for a number of subjects in the 2018 General Education Program. In addition, it is necessary to continue to promote training and fostering teachers in innovative teaching methods, putting this work into practice according to the motto of "holding hands and showing work" for the team.

Practice shows that training core teachers, then those teachers train and spread to their colleagues is not effective. By creatively using many different solutions such as exploiting the power of information technology and communication, it is necessary to directly train each teacher according to the knowledge circuits in the program and subject textbooks.

At the training session, delegates participated in discussions and exchanges revolving around the innovative contents of the 2018 General Education Program as well as issues related to teacher training in the current context. The training program is a practical and important activity, helping pedagogical lecturers update innovations in expertise and teaching methods in the context of comprehensive implementation of the 2018 General Education Program. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of the teaching staff in the new period, meeting the requirements of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training. At the same time, creating a solid foundation for the effective implementation of the 2018 General Education Program in the national education system.
