Focus on ensuring absolute security and safety during the holidays of April 30 and May 1

The conference was held to evaluate the results of work in April, set out directions and key tasks for May 2025, especially the work of ensuring security and order on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Deputy Director of the City Police, Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, disseminated Official Dispatch 1678 of the Ministry of Public Security on guidance and implementation of the organization of the Commune-level Police.

At the conference, Deputy Director of the City Police, Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, thoroughly grasped Official Dispatch No. 1678 dated April 28, 2025 of the Ministry of Public Security on guiding the implementation of the organization of the Commune Police according to the policy of rearranging administrative units at all levels. Accordingly, the arrangement of police officers at communes, wards and towns must be carried out according to the principles of democracy, publicity and transparency, on the basis of assessing the qualities, capacities, qualifications and work experience, ensuring the standards and criteria according to regulations.

Reporting at the conference, Chief of Staff of the City Police, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Doan Duc Thang, said that, closely following the direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the City Party Committee, the People's Council and the City People's Committee, under the close direction of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the City Police, together with the efforts of the entire force, the Capital Police have successfully completed the assigned tasks, maintaining political security and social order and safety in the area. In April, the City Police provided security for 307 sessions, an increase of 54 sessions compared to the previous month and an increase of 152 sessions compared to the same period in 2024. The City Police have proactively and flexibly "changed state", adapted to the condition of not having district-level police, and absolutely protected the safety of two major events: the visit to Vietnam of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and the 4th P4G Summit.

The city police continued to resolutely direct the work of preventing and combating emerging crimes; strengthening the work of grasping the situation, analyzing, forecasting, effectively serving the work of investigating and preventing crimes. During the month, the capital police force investigated and solved 248 cases with 568 subjects committing crimes against social order; investigated and solved 29 cases with 60 subjects committing very serious and especially serious crimes, reaching a rate of 100%. Working groups 141, during the course of their duties, discovered 11 cases with 26 subjects showing signs of crime, and transferred them to functional units for handling according to regulations.

At the conference, representatives of a number of units discussed the following contents: ensuring security and order during the April 30 and May 1 holidays; handling crime reports; fighting and preventing crime; managing dirty food and land use; measures to reduce drug demand; digital transformation, personnel and logistics work, etc.

Concluding the conference, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung acknowledged and commended the results and achievements that the units had achieved in April 2025. Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung requested the entire force to thoroughly grasp the direction of the Minister of Public Security at the monthly work conference, strictly implement plans and solutions to ensure security and safety for important political events, including the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.

The Director of the City Police Department requested to strengthen the fight against and suppress all types of crimes; strictly handle violations of the law on security and order; step up the prevention and control of "street" crimes; increase patrols and administrative controls at public places such as bus stations, train stations, entertainment areas. At the same time, ensure traffic safety and order, prevent fires and explosions, arrange forces to direct traffic, and prevent traffic jams during the holidays.

Also at the conference, Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung launched the emulation movement "The Capital Police Force takes the lead in innovation and digital transformation" with key tasks: renewing thinking and awareness; removing barriers to serve the development of science, technology and digital transformation; improving the effectiveness of state management of security and order with people at the center; building infrastructure and high-quality human resources to serve digital transformation.

In addition to the exciting competitive atmosphere, the conference also took time to commemorate and launch a movement to learn from the heroic sacrifice of Major Nguyen Dang Khai - an officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Quang Ninh Provincial Police, who heroically sacrificed himself on April 18, 2025 while pursuing drug criminals. The sacrifice of Major Nguyen Dang Khai is a living testament to the spirit of "Forgetting oneself for the country, serving the people", an example of courage, resilience, and readiness to face danger to protect the peace of the people; officers and soldiers of the City Police learn from and follow the heroic example of Major Nguyen Dang Khai with the spirit of determination: "Repel drug abuse - the internal enemy", turn pain into action, strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks.
