Quang Nam A Sierra Leonean ship with a capacity of over 13,920 tons, carrying liquid, drifted and ran aground south of Cu Lao Cham Island at noon on December 1.
Cu Lao Cham Border Guard Station, Tan Hiep Commune, Hoi An City, said that after verification, the ship was named King Rich, of Sierra Leone nationality (a country in West Africa). The ship was 132 m long, 21 m wide, carrying liquids, and had no one on board.

After drifting ashore, the bow of the ship was broken due to hitting a reef and was at risk of sinking. The Cu Lao Cham sea is having big waves due to the northeast monsoon, the ship's walls are high so authorities have not been able to approach and determine what liquid is on the ship, how dangerous it is, and how much fuel is left.
The Border Guard has notified the Quang Nam Province Maritime Port Authority to come up with a plan to handle the situation and prevent the risk of the ship sinking and causing oil and liquid spills. In the immediate future, the Border Guard and the militia of Tan Hiep island commune will organize to guard and protect the ship.
