Three countries Spain, Portugal and Morocco have been awarded the right to host the 2030 World Cup by FIFA, but the opening match will be in Uruguay.
On Wednesday evening ( Hanoi time), the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced that it would award the right to host the 2030 World Cup to Spain, Portugal and Morocco, although the opening match will take place in Montevideo (Uruguay).
Argentina's first match will be in Argentina and Paraguay will also play their first match at home.
World Cup 2030 matches will take place in 6 countries
The decision to allow these three matches to be held in South America was to mark the 100th anniversary of the World Cup.
The first World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930 and the host nation won.
This could be seen as a World Cup on three continents, with six teams qualifying early for the tournament as hosts.
Among the official host nations, Spain hosted the 1982 World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: "In a divided world, FIFA and football are standing together."
"Everyone agreed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup in the most appropriate way.
Therefore, there will be a celebration in South America and three countries of this region will host a match of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The first of these three matches will of course be played at the stadium where it all began, at the legendary Centenario in Montevideo. All to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the FIFA World Cup."
The Spain-Portugal-Morocco and South American consortium to host the 2030 World Cup was voted on and approved by the FIFA Council on Wednesday evening.
The surprise move, according to sources familiar with the talks, began to take shape due to the Rubiales scandal.

Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the top choices to host the entire event.
However, the situation turned around with the scandal that broke out after Rubiales - who resigned as president of the Spanish Football Federation - kissed female player Jennifer Hermoso without consent, during the celebration of the Women's World Cup championship in Australia/New Zealand.
The path to victory for Spain, Portugal and Morocco was heralded by Saudi Arabia's decision to withdraw its bid. Saudi Arabia's bid, along with Greece and Egypt, to become the first World Cup to be held on three continents at the same time (Asia - Europe - Africa) failed.
Saudi Arabia was willing to pay for Greek and Egyptian infrastructure, but they realized they had no other choice and decided to focus on hosting the 2034 World Cup.
