Tesla has just announced a recall of 63,619 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 2023 and October 2025 because the LED parking lights are too bright, which can cause glare and distract oncoming drivers.
During internal testing, Tesla discovered that the parking lights were too bright when photometrically measured, although no accidents or injuries were reported. US safety regulations limit brightness to avoid distracting other drivers, and the Cybertruck exceeded the threshold.

Tesla engineers determined that the problem was caused by the software that controlled the LED cluster to glow too bright, not by the hardware design. Therefore, the company will fix it by updating the software via OTA (Over-The-Air), without requiring customers to bring their cars to the dealership.
Porsche recalled more than 3,000 2024 Macan Electrics for excessively bright lights, which it fixed with a software update. GMC faced a similar issue with its 2022 Terrain, but had to use an additional sticker to dim the lights.
