The 54-year-old coach led Hanoi FC to second place in the 2023 V-League. He won the best coach of the year award. However, when entering the important arena of the AFC Champions League, coach Bandovic disappointed.

Hanoi FC suffered heavy losses in their first two matches. They were defeated 2-4 at home by Pohang Steelers (Korea). A few days ago, Hanoi FC was "exposed" 0-6 at home by Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan).

Coach Bandovic’s decisions on the squad and tactics were not highly appreciated. Under the leadership of the Montenegrin coach, Hanoi FC’s playing style was unconvincing throughout the previous season, especially in attack.

In the two matches in the AFC Champions League this season, coach Bandovic put his faith in the new foreign players. Except for Joel Tagueu, both Damien Le Tallec and Brandon Wilson played poorly. Among the foreign players brought in from last season, only Marcao maintained a stable performance.

After parting ways with coach Bandovic, Hanoi FC must urgently find a new head coach. The 2023/2024 V-League season will kick off in less than 2 weeks.
