At the scene, the bodies of both victims were found to be disfigured; the motorbike was smashed to pieces due to the head-on collision while the passenger train was running at high speed. Authorities and local residents had a hard time recovering the bodies of the unfortunate victims to continue investigating the accident.
The accident not only killed two people but also left an inconsolable pain for the victims' families, and an unforgettable haunting for those who witnessed it and those who worked on the scene investigation.
According to local residents, this is a route where many tragic accidents have occurred due to pedestrians not paying attention when trains pass. To ensure traffic safety, local authorities and relevant agencies have equipped this location with full warning devices when trains are approaching, such as warning lights, remote alarm bells, and automatic barriers to remind people to pay attention when crossing the railway.
According to the images recorded by the surveillance camera, before the accident happened, the traffic light was red; the alarm bell was ringing; the railway crossing was down. Several other vehicles had also stopped to wait for the train. However, the motorbike carrying 2 people still tried to squeeze through the crossing. And then… the heartbreaking accident still happened.
Thus, accidents happen not because of bad luck, not because of infrastructure, not because of lack of warning and prevention equipment, but the key cause lies in the subjectivity and awareness of traffic participants. Just because of the impatient mentality, wanting to be a little faster; just because of not being able to wait a few dozen seconds, a few short minutes, they have delayed a lifetime.
According to statistics from functional sectors, in 2024, the whole country recorded 184 railway traffic accidents, killing 74 people and injuring 103 people.
The dead will rest in peace. But the pain will forever remain with the living; the elderly parents and young children will forever lose their support and family home.
Just because of a little bit of subjectivity and impatience. Just because of a little bit of “taking advantage” to be a few seconds, a few minutes faster. Is it worth it?
