Giving opinions on the contents presented at the 31st session of the 8th Provincial People's Council

Reporting at the meeting, the leader of the Department of Home Affairs briefly presented the contents of the draft resolutions, including: The project to establish Quang Tri province on the basis of merging the administrative units of Quang Binh province and Quang Tri province; the policy of arranging the commune-level administrative units of Quang Tri province.

In which, for the draft Resolution on approving the Project to establish Quang Tri province on the basis of merging the administrative units of Quang Binh province and Quang Tri province, after the arrangement, Quang Tri province has a natural area of ​​12,699.99 km2; population of 1,885,213 people; 78 commune-level administrative units (69 communes, 8 wards, 1 special zone). Quang Tri province after the arrangement belongs to the North Central region, bordering Ha Tinh province to the North, Hue city to the South, Laos to the West, and the East Sea to the East.

The administrative and political center of Quang Tri province after the arrangement will be located in Quang Binh province (old). Regarding the draft Resolution on approving the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Tri province, after the arrangement, Quang Tri will have 36 commune-level administrative units and 1 special zone, Con Co.

On the other hand, on April 16, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee also issued a document on organizing the collection of voters' opinions on the Project on arranging administrative units at the provincial and commune levels, and localities have proactively implemented it in accordance with regulations so that the Department of Home Affairs has a basis for synthesis and reporting.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and gave opinions on 2 contents of the draft resolution, including proposing to amend some words to ensure consistency; adding some contents related to guiding commune-level administrative units to arrange and use working offices in a reasonable and convenient manner; and at the same time voting 100% in agreement with the contents of the draft resolution submitted to the 31st session, the 8th Provincial People's Council for consideration and approval.

Concluding the meeting, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Department of Home Affairs, departments, branches, and localities in coordinating to develop the contents to be submitted to the 31st session of the 8th Provincial People's Council.

At the same time, he emphasized that the Provincial People's Committee will receive the delegates' opinions on the projects and report to the Provincial Party Standing Committee for consideration and comments in order to implement the consistent policy of the Party and State on innovation, streamlining the organization and apparatus, operating effectively and efficiently, in accordance with the requirements of national development in the new period - the period of digital transformation, deep international integration and comprehensive competition.
