Quang Hanh Coal conquers the first ton of coal at -300 meters

On April 2, 2025, the leaders of the Group and Quang Hanh Coal Company pressed the button to start mining the first ton of coal from furnace No. 1.

After more than 20 years of construction and development, Quang Hanh Coal Company has continuously expanded and improved its production capacity. Faced with the challenges of increasingly complex geological conditions and increasing mining depths, the Company has implemented the project "Construction of the No. 1 market furnace -175/-300, part of the Mining Project to a depth below -50 of Nga Hai coal mine". This project aims to maintain and improve mining output, meeting the production plan assigned by TKV.

Construction started in 2020, and by March 2025, the Company had completed more than 7,700 meters of the tunnel. According to the original plan, tunnel No. 1 was expected to be put into operation in July 2025. However, in response to TKV's request, the Company has made efforts to speed up the progress and strive to put tunnel No. 1 into operation 3 months earlier than expected. During the project implementation, Quang Hanh Coal faced many difficulties, especially the impact of storm No. 3 and the unexpected change in the geology of seam 15 compared to the original plan, forcing the adjustment of the construction plan. To ensure progress, from October 2024 to the end of January 2025, Quang Hanh Coal Company organized 6 continuous excavation and cutting construction teams. Thanks to that, many important items such as the main conveyor shaft, unloading station, coal bunker, pumping tunnel system, central power station and -200/-175 longwall zone were completed ahead of schedule.

By March 15, 2025, the project had completed the work of zoning the furnace, installing and putting furnace No. 1 into operation. Immediately after the ceremony of attaching the project's sign on April 2, 2025, furnace No. 1 exploited the first 150 tons of coal, marking an important step forward when the Company officially exploited at the -300 meter level. Along with accelerating the exploitation progress, Quang Hanh Coal Company also focused on investing in 3 key projects to serve effective and sustainable production, including: Project to invest in upgrading the power supply system at the -175/-300 level of Nga Hai coal mine; Project to invest in a conveyor system and a hoist to serve production at the -175/-300 level; Project to invest in a power supply system for underground mines to serve production and investment in drainage equipment. The investment in these projects aims to ensure a stable and safe power supply for mining activities at great depths. Improve the efficiency of coal transportation and ensure the safety of workers when moving in the mine. At the same time, ensure the efficient operation of the mine power system and the good operation of the drainage system, minimizing risks during the mining process.

The first tons of coal from the No. 1 mine were mined and poured onto the ground.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Quang Hanh Coal Company, emphasized: The early completion of the project "Construction of the No. 1 market furnace of the Technical Plan for mining the -175/-300 level of the Project to exploit the depth below -50 of Nga Hai coal mine" is of great significance. This achievement not only opens up a new production area, contributes to maintaining and increasing the unit's mining output but also meets the coal demand of the economy , realizing the development goals of the Vietnamese coal industry in the period of 2025-2030 and the following years.

In 2025, Quang Hanh Coal Company aims to exploit more than 1 million tons of coal and dig more than 3,000 meters of new tunnels according to the technical plan for mining at the -175/-300 level. It is expected that by 2027, the mine capacity will increase to 1.7 million tons of coal/year, contributing significantly to meeting the coal demand of the market, especially coal for electricity production and the economic growth target as directed by the Government .

The success in mining the first ton of coal at -300 meters is a testament to the continuous efforts and sound investment strategy of Quang Hanh Coal Company. This is also the driving force for the Company to continue to develop sustainably, contributing positively to the overall development of the Coal industry.
